My name is Dustin, AKA CanadianStarcraft, AKA Basic. I am a StarCraft enthusiast in both community and game play. I love watching the tournaments, leagues and show matches of the communities best as they battle it out. I also love playing this game as much as I can with out missing bills ect. In a folly intiative to get better I have decided to make a video blog detailing my progress as a player as well as my opinion on the on goings of StarCraft as they go on. I hope you enjoy!
Episode #4: Back to the Ladder!
Before you ask about whether episodes #1-3, they do exist but operated mostly as a trial run for specing things out and getting a feel for being in front of a camera. Never the less, if you want to watch those, they are all at http://www.soasp.blip.tv.
This episode focuses around me self trying to get back on the ladder. After much work with StarCraft community things like trying to organize a consistent tournament as well as get a solid website together, actual game play had fallen by the way side. My mechanics are sloppy and my build orders loose. My natural sense for the game slowly comes back, like getting on a bicycle for the first time after a long winter; wobbly at first but very quick to stabilize. The key now is to improve my mechanics and get back to build orders that work. I played nothing but PvP my first three ladder matches back and it was a disaster mostly. Fortunately I pull a win out in my last game with the sudden realization that I need to perfect my ability to four gate in the match up before I try to do anything special to avoid the inevitable stale mate of gate way units clashing against each other.
My Goals:
1. Continue matches on ladder
2. Also play plenty of custom games to tighten those mechanics
I want to be at a point where I am not shaking every time I hit the "Search" button, where I can relax in game and just have fun whether win or lose.
MLG Dallas
I have been trying to watch MLG Dallas, but all the internet issues they have been having down there have discouraged me from watching in general. The game order and such was random and hard to fallow, but the games looked good and I cannot wait to see all the results after the mess of replays and live matches is all sorted out.
NASL
That being said, I am super excited to start watching the NASL. Finally, a StarCraft live cast that I can watch at a decent time in the day with a 100% English speaking production team as well as foreign players. I love the GSL but I am always pumped to see eSports grow over here in the West and hope that it continues to do so.
In Conclusion:
There is seems to be plenty going on right now and between all of it, playing StarCraft and working on canadiandominion.ca I am supper pumped to see what the next few weeks bring!
