This is my first ever blog post on TL or well anywhere really as I haven't really gotten dragged in to that particular portion of the internet. So first of I'd like to introduce myself, if anyone would care to know anything about me that is.
My name is Simon and I live in the greatest country in the world, also known as Sweden. I am 19 years old and am currently studying math, physics and coding at a high school level. I live in a small town which means that the options when it comes to entertainment as you grow up are quite slim. You can either get piss ass drunk, inhale illegal substances or play video games. Though I do enjoy alternative number one on occasion most of my time is spent in front of the computer, and that has pretty much always been the case. Though I am quite a likable fellow and have no problem interacting with people I've just found the computer to be more enthralling than dancing to loud music while I am intoxicated and can't really talk to people because the music is too damn loud.

Since it may seem like I have to explain myself for being a nerd you might think that I consider it to be something shameful. But on the contrary I've always been proud of who I am, because why wouldn't you I made the choice to be a geek and therefore I am happy with it! Anyways time to get back on track. I've been in to games ever since our family got our first computer. It was a shitty ass mac but back then it was amazing to me. The feeling of being in control of something that abstract to a five year old was just baffling. The first time I got to play a game on it was when my father had installed a game called power pete. Which is a mac exclusive but still today a damn fun game. Playing that game didn't really get the sense of immersion that I craved though but boy did I get it. After playing warcraft 2 at a friends house I told my that I wanted to get that game as it was just so cool to me that you were able to control an entire army of units. So my dad looked into it but when he went to the store they advised him to get starcraft instead as it had just been released so he bought it and brought it home. And that's how I got introduced to starcraft!
Though I was a little bit upset that my dad hadn't gotten me the game I wanted we installed it and I got to try it out. I can still remember when I started that game up for the first time. The only word that can really explain it is epic. I fell in love with it and knew right away that I wanted to play protoss (which I continued on doing throughout all of my "starcraft career"). I still remember to this day that I started up the game and jumped into the protoss missions. Though I got slapped pretty badly the first time I got a hang of it pretty quickly. Of course I played it with only the mouse as I think everyone did when they first started out, hehe. Though I was never any good starcraft still holds a huge sentimental value to me as it was the first game I ever bought and it was also the first game that I ever played online. All I remember from that though is being crushed and being mad because I was unable to use cheat codes which as a kid I had of course grown to quite fond of.
It was pretty much the only game I played until warcraft 3 was released and then I quit starcraft completely. Which I do regret now but then again, was quite young so the graphical improvements of warcraft 3 was a bit too fascinating for me to be overlooked. And of course back then I was of course unaware of there being a pro scene.. But me and starcraft have had an on again off again relationship then. It was always nice to get back to playing for nostalgic purposes. But also I did want to get good at it after finding out about the pro scene in, 2005 or 2006 maybe? But I was never really that committed to it just such a hard game to get in to and I didn't want it that bad that I'd be ok with loosing for days. However I did play it a lot when I heard about starcraft 2 I even managed to get up to D+ on iccup, yay me (I hope you do get that I don't feel like this was the biggest accomplishment ever but at least it was something).
I did get into the beta quite early and ended up being in the highest league (plat and then diamond) which was the goal I had setup for myself. I played all the races quite a lot to get the sense of which one seemed the most fun to me. The race that I ended up choosing when the game was released was protoss as it seemed to be the race with the most potential without being classified as "imba" like the terrans which I thought was quite fitting as I do enjoy innovating play as well as a challenge. I still manged to keep myself in the highest league up until the release of black ops, and then cataclysm that my friends convinced me to get back into but, meh. However when I had wasted time on those games which could have been spent on starcraft 2 (roughly 2 months) my mechanics had become much worse and my strategies weren't exactly up to date so now I am a random platinum. And yes that's my starcraft story.
Please give me some feedback on this as I will continue on with this blog if people enjoy my writing My English may not exactly be the best ever since my native language is Swedish so excuse me if there are some grammar / spelling errors. Ah well hope you enjoyed it and if I get a positive response to my writing I will keep on doing it.
