Anyway, I've never had any problems with any of the Gerber knives I've had, and I'm quite happy with my current one. I've heard good things about Benchmade, but never used one.

If it's for brutally murdering people, then yeah spend a little extra cash on your passions.

I have a CRKT M16-10KZ, it's an every day carry model so it fits nicely in your pocket. http://www.crkt.com/M16-10-EDC-Black-ZytelHandle-AutoLAWKS-Combo-Edge It's a pretty nice knife, I take it with me everywhere, backpacking, the streets...yeah.

This knife will probably be for everyday carry, just for general use. Seems like a pretty useful thing to have.

You might want to converse with a lawyer just so you can get specific ordinances that aren't made too well known. Example, Texas statewide allows for a blade length of 5 1/2 inches, but the city, Corpus Christi, has a city ordinance allowing only a max length of 3 inches. Generally these nuances aren't really enforced, but there is always a police officer who is not having a good day. On March 13 2011 03:00 dogabutila wrote: anything by Emerson. Is a good suggestion, the waving feature is a pretty slick idea. They carry a premium price, but you can get some models for $140-150. Problem is the factory is no longer selling to your state, so you definitely should speak to lawyer to make sure you know what is allowable. Kershaw has pretty good introductory priced knifes. Leek (3 inches) is pretty popular. Spyderco Endura (3 3/4 inches), Delica(2 7/8 inches), and Tenacious (3 3/8 inches) are also the go-to introductory knives, probably 10 dollars or so more than the Leek. I'd suggest the Boker Subcom (1 7/8 inches), midget knife so no one will be likely to give you the stink eye if you pull it out and you'll easily forget that you have it in your pocket. Also you can buy wood scales for it: http://blog.cuscadi.de/?page_id=253 and make it look classy as fuck.

I'm in college in NYC, and I'm from the MD/VA/DC area. For concealed and open carry, all four places are fine with it. The only restriction on blade length is in DC, where it's a 3" limit. Larger than 3" is allowed if you have no intent to harm, but the catch is that the burden of proof is now on the carrier instead of the law.
