So, I got a job selling a desk on the internet. The desk has appraised by someone (I dunno who or how furniture appraisal works or anything) at $15,000. The owners want me to sell it on the internet for them because they heard about this internet thing that all the cool kids are using and they heard that I have at some point surfed the intertubes.
Has anyone done something like this before or have any advice?
The people who entrusted me with this are family friends and they've both been laid off and really need the money and can't afford some super salesman.
If I put it on eBay or some site that charges they say I have to raise the price to account for the extra charges and it will probably be tough enough to sell in such an economy so for now I think I will just put it on free sites like craigslist.

Can you post a pic? I just want to see what a 15,000$ desk looks like. Is it an antique?

It would be better if you use the "Upload Image" function, otherwise the images don't resize.

For comparison, this is a $1,500,000 desk:

Looks interesting I guess. Don't think that its $15k interesting, but hey someone might.
And someone actually paid $1.5 million for a desk?? christ.

It looks like a nice desk with really intricate carvings. Good luck selling it!
(sorry I'm not more helpful wrt what you asked)

Holy crap that's a really nice desk. I wouldn't pay 15k for it but still.

Normally you can resize on your profile, just check the option.

That's a very nice desk the seller made. What type of wood is it?

It's going to be hard to get $15k for a desk on craigslist. This is a made up number, but I'd guess the average price of a desk on CL is $150. Based on the patina and hardware I'm going to assume that this desk falls under modern folk art. Also, was it appraised for auction or insurance purposes (this matters a lot in regard to retail/resale value)? Who is the artist? You'll want clear pictures of any and all marks that identify this work as his/her. If the carvings can be traced to a big name artist you might have a market, if not, you'll have a great deal of difficulty fetching that price.
Good luck.

That is a nice 15k desk man. Woww.... Woodcarver of pretty epic proportions I'm guessing. It's really nice actually. xD The 1.5mil one looks kinda.. crappy... Oh well. good luck selling it man. It's gonna take awhile to actually find a good buyer I would say.
