Hi everyone! I'm going to start becoming a frequent poster on these boards! Guess I should introduce myself some:
sc2 profile: http://us.battle.net/sc2/en/profile/505603/1/Mav/ Played broodwar semi-casually for a few years. Getting serious about sc2. Currently a 1700ish diamond player. I main terran, and use protoss as well, mainly in teams. I'm already a frequent poster on the sc2 bnet forums, but I'm looking forward to the much better moderated boards of TL. I'm not completely new to the team liquid site: I've come here before to find build orders, and I'm a day[9] daily viewer :D.
Some interesting non sc facts about me: -I attend Penn State University, majoring in IST. -I play super smash brothers brawl competitively(I attended MLG orlando and columbus). I've been ranked top 10 in my state(PA). -Fan of airsoft, ultimate frisbee, and target shooting.
So yeah, I'm hoping to have an awesome time here, make friends, and to get better at sc2 ^_^

What is IST? When you say target shooting, what type do you do? Welcome.
|
You've made the right decision moving from the bnet forums to TL, you won't regret it
Also, I'm a big ultimate player as well, you play on a team at Penn State?

I believe it's information sciences and technology.
Welcome to TL, your new home =]

I don't do too target shooting much atm, but my father is big on pistols(retired police officer). I've done some of everything, including competitive-style .22 rifle shooting with the psu rifle club, but the style they teach is kind of weird. I'm going to get a lot more into it in the coming year. I'm thinking of buying my own rifle, but I may not because my father pretty much has a mini-armory lol.
IST=Information Sciences and technology. Pretty much like IT/some comp sci. edit=ninja'd by joker.
@gila. I was on my high schools ultimate team, and started with the psu ultimate club/team, but they have a huge time commitment, and a terrible timeslot(8pm-10pm almost every night). It pretty much had to be your life X_X

Yeah dude, I remember when I was in undergrad and we'd play at tournies, some teams would just brag about their insane practice schedule. We were far more chill, more about just having a good time and getting our asses kicked by other teams haha

I hear that. Thats how my HS team was.

Cool man, you seem like an interesting dude. Good luck on the SC2 quest, can be frustrating at times!

Who'd you main in brawl? Did you get into melee? The scene here is strong.
|
People still regard my Falco as my best character, but I currently use a Falco/Fox/Metaknight mix. And I play solely metaknight in 2v2s.
I played melee casually. I got into the competitive scene right when brawl was released, so I went with the new game(even though melee probably is the more solid fighter).

You watch Day9 and only now you post on TL. You're way way late man :D. Just kidding, welcome to TL.net where true SC2 show its form.

Wait a second......
Did you just say BRAWL COMPETITIVE? oh man...
Why not melee? I got into competitive smash when brawl came out too, but switched to melee within like 6 months. Game is so much faster and more intense, it's great. Though the learning curve is pretty steep, it took me a really long time to even get the basic technical skills fairly down pat.

Melee's pretty dead in my region, although its strongest in NY/atlantic south areas. For every 2-3 national sized brawl tourneys there's only one big melee one(the next one being pound 5 in Feburary).
It was moreso me going with the new game than anything. It would be like me going with starcraft 2 competitively when it first came out compared to starcraft 1.
