Hey guys, kinda going to be a short blog. Heres the deal, i was helping a family member move a few days ago, furniture etc, as i use to lift weights so i'm fairly strong and do most of the heavy lifting. Well after helping, i hadn't really done a whole lot of lifting for several months prior and well my right arm started hurting
at first i thought it was my shoulder so i started doing a bit more stretchs in the moring than usual to work it out, but nothing helped, and of course now i realize its the upper right arm just below the shoulder on the right side. for example place ur hand palm down on ur shoulder and then move it down ur arm about 4-5 inchs (depends lol)
ok final piece of info for all u doctor wannabes or real doctors xD well if i itch or touch it... its numb, like when u go to the dentest and get shots in ur mouth. i can push quite hard feeling no pain, and also super hot waters doesnt bother it. my arm works just fine, but if i bend my arm to the right while keeping my elbow at a 90 degree angle i get a sharp stinging pain, much like a bee sting or a shot. this goes away instnatly if i change my arms position (such as typing doesnt bother me)
thanks for helping if anyone has any ideas... last resort is the doctors office as i have no health insurance and make less than 7k a year while going to school. so 75$ for a walk in clinic is already breaking me.
thanks again, GO TEAM LIQUID! love u guys <3 xD

Probably tore something without realizing you were straining it too much by the weight/posture. It will/should heal over time, until then I will refer you to the above post for advice.
I've from time to time damaged my nerves by dislocating/spraining things, and this includes the sharp pains you've described. The worst I've had went away after a month or two, but you just have to be mindful of how you are using your body. Please refer to the above post for further advice on this subject.
You do need physical therapy, but this mostly amounts to a stretching and strength-building routine to make sure you repair what you broke. I really don't think it's worth paying money to have a noob hold your hand through this procedure.

sounds like some nerve damage, should probably just go to the doctor.

well nerve dmg and tore muscel sounds alot diff xD or sprained, any advice on what i should do? and short term what i should look for before seeing a doctor for nerve dmg?
|
this sounds like a torn muscle or a sprain with some nerve damage. Idk what the extent of the numbness is, but it sounds like a good reason to see a doctor. if there wasn't numbness, i'd tell you to go easy on the arm for at least a month. i hurt my shoulder working in a warehouse for a week and it took about a month or two till there was absolutely no pain in it under stress.

I'm only a med student but I'd say it's almost certainly nerve damage (otherwise you wouldn't have a continual numbing sensation). You should definitely see a doctor about it.

Sounds like nerve damage
see doctor
might be a pinched nerve or smth

Disclaimer: IANAD, don't listen to me, and don't sue me if you do. :p
It sounds like you fucked up your rotator cuff. The motion you describe (assuming you mean external rotation) is used in rotator cuff exercises, and it can refer pain to that part of your arm, so numbness makes sense.
Numbness sounds pretty serious though, so if ice on the shoulder and/or anti-inflammatories don't fix it completely, suck it up and see a doctor.
Really, see a doctor anyway unless it miraculously cures itself. $75 now vs potentially being unable to use your right arm for months.

well thanks everyone, its been 3 days now with zero change, i have class today till 8pm so ill go see a doctor in the morning, and ya i wouldn't have even posted this with out the distinct STRANGE numb feeling at that particular spot, only covers about 2-3 inchs of that area of my arm where i can clearly find the numbness by just running fingers along my arm
well guys thanks a bunch, now watch me get their and have him tell me its nothing major and to just dont put to much stress on it for a month xD and there goes my lunch's for liike 4 weeks haha

Torn rotator cuff most likely. Doctors usually prescribe an anti-inflammatory and tell you to do Physical Therapy for 4-6 weeks. If you go see an orthopaedic surgeon, you can get shoulder surgery done during which time they will tear the stitch back up.

omg just saw that someone asked how it turned out sorry sonuvbob ill pm u, but actually i saw a doctor at a clinic type place for 65$, but they don't do anything special like a hospital, he told me he felt it wasnt anything serious and i should just lay off hard work on it for a few weeks and look for change everyday and write down anything that seems stranger than the current situation, if something does change, come back and let him know, luckily my arm got better after about 2 weeks, seems i just pulled something or had a semi pinched nerve that fixed its self.
