I can't help but notice the basics of SC2 units and how it compares to SC1 units. (This includes comparing SC2 units with other SC2 units) You may disagree with my list and feel free to post your own similarities.
For example: arbiter ----> mothership (practically same abilities but mothership has more HP, is slower, takes longer to build, and you can only have 1. I think arbiters got a nerf)
Zergling + Infested Terran ---> baneling (I like this change) Zealot + Range ---> Roach Marauder + HP & Damage ---> Immortal Zergling + Range ---> Hydralisk (1 Z = same DPS as 1 Hydra in SC2) Vultures + cliff ---> Reaper (hmm reapers are not a staple unit in the army but I still think this is a good change) Wraith + Guardian ---> Banshee Guardian + Queen ---> Broodlord ( I love Broodlords ) Archon air attack + immortal ground attack + 250 mm ---> thor Corsair + Scout ---> Phoenix (Actually one of the best upgrades in SC2) Ensnare + Plague ---> Fungal Growth Parasite ---> Changeling Mind Control + Nerf ---> Neural Parasite. Irradiate + Buff ---> HSM Hydralisk (in SC1) + HP ---> Stalker
Hmm, just my opinion to put out their and see if you guys agree.

i just dont get the point of posts like this, i just dno :O

oh i see
so marine + hp/damage/bonus vs bio --> roach marine + hp/bonus vs armor --> marauder marine + hp/speed/range/bonus vs armor --> stalker
am i doing it right?

OP some of your comparisons are a little hard to understand or agree with. I guess it is interesting. Zealot + Range = Roach? I dunno they are very different when roach can burrow and move while burrowed. Zealot's recharge shields, sure, but Roach regen is much different.
Obviously Banshees are flying DTs.

Zergling + Range = Hydralisk? How does this even make sense? You argue that the dps is the same, but the roles of the units are completely different. It's not like you can use hydras as a mineral sink.
A lot of these comparisons just seem really nonsensical.

Hmm, you don't see how Banshee are just like fast guardians with cloak and less hp?

unupgraded zealot and unupgraded roach. (and remove the regen cuz roaches regen slower but can regen fully)

Yup but that is too much. Try to dumb it down to 2-3 similarities.
Or I can go Marines + flight+hp+damage+vortex+1 only+recall = mothership

LOL. This blog isn't about their roles. Its about how you give one unit a couple extra features and you get another unit. Obviously if you do this, then you would get different uses for it.

i dont agree with many of these. it's not that simple. banshee is like a wraith with the cloak, and does have the ground attack like a guardian, but it isnt slow like one. and you have archon air + immortal (not sc1 unit) = thor when this is supposed to be about how sc1 units relate to sc2 units.
some of the ones i do agree with: ensnare and plague = fungal growth. not exact, but close. a broodlord is like a bw queen with lots of energy for spawn broodling.

I have no idea how you missed Firebat + Vulture = Hellion

speed comes from the wraith and not the guardian

Carrier + Guardian + Cattlebruiser = Marauder?
Just kidding. How about:
Corsair ---> Corruptor
You guys covered all the good ones already.

ty, but I didn't want to go into too much detail and just get the basic gist of the units.
BTW: Banshee speed is about in the middle of wraith and guardian speed
