fakeBoxeR vs KyrixZenith
Game 1
+ Show Spoiler +
Game 1 Plateau, diagonal positions:
Kyrix gets a hatch before pool, steals Foxer's gas, but Foxer wasn't that interested in taking it anyway, since he got a command center right after his first barracks. Boxer gets two more barracks and a factory with a tech lab. Kyrix gets a baneling nest before lair, makes a lot of banelings right away, and attacks with dozen or so each of zerglings and banelings. BoxeR holds as well was he can with perfect marine spreading. Take two, but this time Kyrix manages to destroy Foxer's factory as well. Foxer takes it like a man, rebuilds the factory, and decides to counter with... more barracks and reactors. The Zerg has taken a third in all this. Foxer pushes out with a few tanks and marines to the third, which leads to another baneling/marine micro battle in the middle. Foxer's push is ultimately repelled. A spire goes up, and a drop in Kyrix's main does a bit of damage. Both players start to rally to the middle of the map, but boxer's micro helps him to successfully trade one marine for almost every baneling, so the fight eventually moves all the way into Kyrix's natural, where all the drones and a spire die to Foxer's endless marines and medivacs. A forth and 3rd are taken, respectively. More custom-map-like rally battles take place in the middle, as roaches start to come out with the banelings. However, Foxer is now at 2/2 so the marines do fairly well against the roaches and, once Kyrix rebuilds his spire, mutas. Foxer finally decides to stay back and macro up a giant 3/3 marine army, which eventually rolls over the unupgraded zerg forces..
This whole game almost felt like watching a Nexus Wars match, with how streams of armies continuously met in the dead center of the map.

Game 2, Lost Temple, close positions:
Both players start with the same macro-heavy builds as last map. Boxer pushes out with his first 5 marines and starts to rally from many barracks, does a lot of damage, but eventually loses most of his army when speed finishes for the zerglings. Foxer is forced to bring out scvs to defend the speedling counterpush. A baneling nest and reactors go down. The first baneling bust is very effective in the tight choke of Foxer's natural. Another, and so many banelings and speedlings get into the natural through an incomplete wall-in, that no amount of fancy micro can save Foxer.
Kyrix took commanding advantage of the close positions here. I really like how he brought the creep right up to the terran's natural.
Kyrix 1-1

Game 3: Steppes of war
Zerg FEs again, but Foxer goes two-barracks pressure into expand. Kyrix makes a lot of 'lings and defends easily. Counterattack defended with some fancy micro. Banelings enter the field. Foxer walls off his natural's ramp. Kyrix characteristically expands to Foxer's gold, and makes twenty three banelings. A huge bust is very effective, but Kyrix loses a bunch of banelings morphing right in the base, so it is repelled with the help of some hellions. But the stream of zerglings and banelings is just too much once Kyrix's third gets up and running.
Foxer seems to not be adapting to Kyrix's banelings. I can't help but think that some marauders or higher tech units would help a lot.

Foxer mixes it up finally, and goes for the quick gas. Kyrix hatches before pool. Foxer gets two starports with tech labs. Kyrix luckily makes a liar for the second time this match. The banshees get into the main, kill a queen, and go back for repair. They comes back with two friends, and take out FOUR queens, a bunch of drones, more queens, and a spire before any mutas come out. Kyrix is eventually overrun by the continuous stream of death-omens from Irish mythology.

Game 5: Caverns
Foxer walls his main for once. Kyrix does his standard hatch first. Foxer goes double gas, and goes for one of each stucture, getting a tech-labbed factory and a bunch of marines with his one starport. Foxer expands. Kyrix takes a third at his own forth. Kyrix busts the expansion with zerglings and banelings, but the banshee cleans it up. The lings and banelings continue to stream down, shutting down the expansion for now. A drop to the zerg's third takes out the drones. but newly popped mutas take out the medivac and marines. Zerglings, banelings, and mutalisks push back a marine push, kill a bunch of medivacs. Another marine tank push takes out the zerg third after seige tanks destroy a cluster of banelings. Kyrix expands to his gold as Foxer takes out his gold's rocks. Kyrix demolishes an army that gets caught in the middle, but gets counterattacked at his gold. Foxer starts long-distance mining from the gold, then eventually expands there after a tense battle for position at the pit. Foxer attacks Kyrix's gold, but gets his gold taken as a result. He gets back there, and finally starts making some marauders. Foxer holds off a tough attack of banelings from the sky. And again. But Kyrix almost mines out his last, gold, base before expanding, so he briefly has no money. Foxer manages to push right at this dip with a ton of marauders, picks off two overlords full of banelings, and Kyrix just doesn't have a big enough army. Kyrix might have taken this game if he had known when to press his advantage, or had taken his forth before he did. By the same token, Foxer could have won much more easily if he knew/did the same.
What a great match. Games 1 and 5 were amazingly close. Foxer's amazing micro against Kyrix's insane aggression kept me constantly checking the supply counts. The one negative to both of their play was that both players showed a stubborn resistance to adapt to the other's strategy and also to tech up to higher tier units. However, if either player adds more variety to their arsenal, both could become monsters.

Game 1: Lost Temple, close positions
Genius goes Gate/Core/Stargate while Hope gets both flavors of barracks. Genius expands right after the first void ray comes out. Cancels the nexus as Hope's MM army starts to push out. Hope gets a reactored factory and expands. Genius gets two more void rays and starts to harass. At the forth voidray, Genius attacks with a bunch of sentries mixed into a standard gate way army. The small choke allows Genius to split the army with FFs, and he goes on to roll the army.
Genius looked pretty precarious for a lot of the game, and probably would have died if Hope made a decisive attack, but eventually got enough voidrays to just win.

They both cancel out right in front of Genius's natural as both players' thirds kick in. Hope mixes in some ghosts, snipes Genius's third nexus with stimmed marauders, and just runs away. Genius feels compelled to counterattack with everything against a retreating army, but all his forces get emp'ed and destroyed. Hope then counter-counterattacks with a big bioball and wins.

The thing that lost Genius this match here was lack of scouting. This meant that games 2 and 3 were essentially build-order losses that could have been only and easily prevented by scouting. Not to say that he was have definitely won, but there would have at least been a competitive game instead of an insta-loss. Game four was decided by the loss of that third expansion to a simple marauder run-around. Very disappointing loss for Genius, but to an excellent player.

Game 1: Metal, close by air
Both players hatch first at around the same time, then get zergling speed. Zenio sloppily loses his first overlord to a queen. Nestea goes roach lair, Zenio expands again after getting his own roaches. Right as the expansion starts for Zenio, NesTea starts churning out 34 speedlings and attacks, putting him about 6 drones behinds. It does a lot of damage, though, including killing both queens. NesTea starts rallying more speedlings and roaches into Zenio's base. He is eventually repelled, but has gotten mutas and attacks in for the win.
A solid victory for NesTea, but things could have easily gone sour if Zenio had just a few more defenses up, or had teched a little bit faster, as Nestea never once scouted the third.

Both players strangely go for their spawning pools first first. Zenio sets up for some defensive play with a spine crawler at his front and a baneling nest in his base. He also successfully scouts Nestea, who puts five spine crawlers at his front after having droned like crazy this entire time, getting up a lair as well. Zenio sees what's going on and cancels a bunch of banes. He sends a couple dozen speedlings into Nesteas base, who just run around and come right back out after seeing a making spire. Nestea does the same scouting maneuver, but ends up engaging, taking out about equal zerglings. When Nestea's spire finishes, he expands. Zenio has cleverly gone infestor/burrow with a few roaches mixed in. As Nestea harasses with mutas, Zenio starts four infestors digging around the map, but Nestea had gotten an overseer, so they have to go home. Nestea has been making a fairly large roach army this whole time, with which he breaks through the middle rocks, and attacks. Nestea manages to pick off a couple of infestors, and that seals the deal, since some of the mutas are still up and Nestea has many more roaches.

NesTea counterattacks with the roaches after they clean up the base, and essentially does just as much damage with them net-net since he was droning during the attack. But then lings from Zenio attack and, due to some mismicro and awkwardly made banelings, get fended off by Nestea's roaches. When all is said and done, we are left with fourteen drones for Zenio to Nestea's eleven + three roaches. Nestea gets his lair first, then spire and Zenio makes a roach warren, then lair. Both players expand. and Zenio gets his spire as well. Nestea manages some nice harassment with his mutalisks. Nada attacks with a sizable force of marine and marauders, kills a lot of SCVs, but Boxer slips in a banshee and kills a lot of scvs himself, pulling almost even. Nada transitions to factories as Boxer's tank count continues to rise. A cute little battle happens at the north watchtower, as each player sends singular marines in turn to kill his opponent's. Boxer pushes out through the top path with seven tanks and a dozen marines, ending up sieged at Nada's third. Boxer retreats into his own sieged tanks, drawing in a big force of Nada's marines to their death in the unoccupied 12 o clock main. Boxer moves down to his gold, but Nada sets up with sieged tanks right outside his enemy's main, taking out a lot of units and buildings, even shuttling units up into the base with medivacs. Boxer goes for a counterattack through the top gold after eventually fending it off as both players expand to their thirds, but Nada had begun reinforcing his units through the southern pass. However, Boxer gets a viking after his first banshee, which repels Nada's banshee, whereas Nada made a raven, so a few probes and marines die to Boxer's banshee micro. Another banshee gets in to do some damage for Boxer at Nada's new expansion, while Boxer's new expansion is untouched. The strategy seems to be marine tank for both bonjwas, and they are getting lots of them. A brief confrontation at Nada's gold as he destroys the rock starts off a long, slow, dance of sieging and unsieging around the giant pit in the center of the map. But Boxer takes the initiative and brings his ENTIRE ARMY around Nada's third, through the backdoor shrubs, and right into Nada's natural as his army is still stuck in the middle of the map. Nada, realizing his position, throws all his units down and around towards Boxer's base, but Boxer's fresh marauder army takes them out.

Boxer's marine-only army lets a lot of scvs die to the blue flames of the hellions, but his banshee gets ten kills as well. Still, Boxer is left with just nine scvs to Nada's seventeen. Boxer sends the now-repaired banshee back to Nada's base, and kills another 10 scvs. Nada, instead of taking it out, sends two Thors and a bunch of scvs, marines and hellions to walk across the map to Boxer's main. But Boxer already has a handful of tanks, which don't even have to siege to eliminate out both giant German walking robots. Another Thor comes in, dies, and Nada just doesn't have any scvs left, so is forced to quit. Interestingly, neither player expanded at all the entire game, and I can't help but think that on such a big map, and after so much initial damage, Nada really could have just kept expanding and macrowed is way to victory.

Right as Boxer's natural starts to saturate, Nada comes in and snipes a tank with his two ghosts, who then clean up the remaining marines. Nada continues to pressure, taking out a bunch of pulled scvs, but this entire time Boxer has been landing and taking off, killing scvs in Nada's main. However, Nada slowly forces forward on Boxer's natural with a bunch of sieged tanks and vikings. Nada nukes to scare off the tanks, but as soon as it lands, Boxer sprints in with bunch of marines and marauders that reach the tanks just before they finish sieging. The battle leaves only Boxer's tanks a few marines for Nada. Nada is able keeps the contain up, though, as he expands to an unoccupied natural. Another nuke allows Nada's contain to move forward. Boxer switches to a marauder heavy army a bit before Nada, and suddenly runs forward to break the contain that had seemed a threat to Boxer's chances all game. Nada's infantry is way too far back! Boxer breaks the tank link and destroys Nada's bio as it runs in, barely too late. Now it's Boxer's turn to contain, but Nada sends a fleet of vikings to land in Boxer's base. They are repelled by marauders. Boxer runs into Nada's natural with his army, takes it out, moves up the ramp, but is forced back down by a swarm of angry scvs. Boxer finally takes out Nada's third, and there's nothing left that Nada can do.
Boxer wins 3-1
Great series. Boxer just somehow knows exactly what to do at all times, no matter how far behind he seems. He could very well take this tournament, especially since he is guaranteed a TvT in the finals.
