I am a Florida resident and a couple months back, I received a misdemeanor charge for open alcoholic container. I feel it's relevant to mention that I was in the only part of this area of Florida that prohibits open containers in a residential area. I honestly did not have the slightest idea that having a beer not a block away from my house would result in a criminal charge, yet here I find myself.
Not days after being charged, I received a phone call offering a pretrial intervention program which if I completed all charges would be dropped and I'd never have to deal with a formal trial. The program required paying a fine and doing 10 hours community service in a 60 day period. I took that option.
60 days later, I have failed to complete the requirements and have been summoned back to the courthouse.
From what I have read online the consequences I am dealing with are just having to go to court like I would have without that weird program. I'm here to ask: What do I do? I have never been convicted of anything or been anywhere near a court room.
