Was banned for doing something stupid, then extended my ban for ACT studying. Now I'm back, and ready to share some old music with you guys.
Note: some of them were posted in the other thread as replies; however, I want to explain why each one was important/fun/etc.
Seo Taiji
Let's go back to Seo Taiji. This was his 4th album, one of the first Gangster raps in Korea (and probably one of few). If you listen to the crowds, he was big as today's idol groups. Actually, no. Even bigger.
This song, Come Back Home, was famous for not only its popularity, but also influencing runaway teenagers to go back home.
G.O.D.
First of all, G.O.D. was famous for their singing skills, especially Kim Tae Woo who, despite looking ugly, sang amazingly. I also think it was one of JYP's first project groups.
This song, 애수, was chosen as the title song by a (gasp!) baby that they were babysitting for a reality show (one of the reasons why G.O.D. got famous). As G.O.D. played the songs in front of the baby, G.O.D. would use the baby's reactions to pick the song.
애수 became a big hit in Korea, and also spreading the name of G.O.D. across Korea.
And my personal favorite, 하늘색 풍선 (skyblue balloons). Titled after G.O.D.'s fan club (afaik), this song basically introduces the G.O.D. members (usually used in concerts).
DJ DOC
Note: every member in this group was arrested at least once due to violence.
I think a Japanese DJ recently remade the song. It's crap (besides, that's all he does; take Korean music and remake it. No real talent IMO). This is the original song Run to you by DJ DOC. Many of you do not know this group, especially because their second last album was released about 4~6 years ago (too lazy to google). Their latest album came out recently, and if you've watched Proleague Finals this year, then yes. You've heard their title song already (during kkong dance).
Koyote
Kim Jong Min, you may look stupid, but you are still part of a great singing group.
Koyote was one of the groups that I listened to when I wanted to dance. Upbeat music, easy melody to follow etc. Between my friends, this was one of our favorite song to sing in Noraebang (Kareoke (sp?)), especially in groups (2 guys and 1 girl).
Kim Gun Mo
He may look slightly ugly. He's still not married (and in early 40's I think). But damn, he can sing.
Probably only one of the reggae (styled) songs in Korea. After Wrongful Meeting, this song (3rd album) became famous across Korea. Even to this date, he sings and performs at concerts. I think he has up to 10 albums. Although he doesn't perform on TV stages anymore (at least for now), he is one of the greatest singers out there.
Speaking of Wrongful Meeting...
More coming next week, as I cruise through my mom's CD collections XD
I can see that why you're saying that it's similar, but it is not a cover. Maybe Seo Taiji used the similar techniques during rapping, but it's definitely not a cover.
Just because they use similar style for rapping does not imply that it's a cover/sampling.
As a pump it up player I'm happy to see DJ DOC lol. Seo Taiji is actually on one of the newer mixes too but it's a very very different style of song then in your video o.o
Seo Taiji showed up in PC (Perfect Collection) with Hayoga and Our Memories (하여가, 우리들만의 추억). It's been only recent where PIU got new licenses to different Seo Taiji songs such as Come Back Home, Feel the Soul, and 내맘이야 (It's my Business). So technically, Seo Taiji appeared earlier in the series, except the earlier licenses expired and Andamiro never renewed them.
I'm so happy you brought this up. Seo Taiji is a living legend in Korea. No one in the country has EVER came close to his popularity and no one ever will. Idols groups like SNSD, Wonder Girls or Super Junior do not even come close.

Don't even get me started on Pump It Up lol =3
My friend just bought NXA so that's where I saw Feel the Soul, there's a Perfect machine near me but it's the original release and really shitty heh

Tell him to get Fiesta/MK9 kit. If he loves K-Pop, they have Kara (T.T;. But except for quest mode (NXA's World Quest is MUCH better as far as I know), Fiesta seems better imo.
