Void Rays in FMP

I've been playing Fastest Map Possible (one by Wolf) on Starcraft 2 whenever I get bored of low money maps and I've noticed that almost 99% of toss players go mass void rays. Although the map maker has made minor adjustments to the units by changing their food requirement (4 for void rays), people still mass up to 70-80 void rays. That is nearly damn impossible to stop. In SC1 FMP, there really wasn't a unit you could mass up that quickly and wreak havoc early on in 1v1 (except cheeses). Does this bother anyone else? This same exact thing happens in every 2v2,3v3,4v4 ladder match I play. Someone goes mass void rays and wipes out the entire team with only like 10-20 void rays. It kind of ruins the whole 2v2,3v3,4v4 experience because void rays are easy to get and with the distractions of your teammates, you can easily mass up void rays. And even when you do scout it, by the time you react appropriately, the void rays are burning through everything. In 1v1s, void rays are MUCH harder to mass and use effectively but in team games, I feel like it ruins the whole experience about every 3-4 games. What are your guys' take on this?

I play zerg and I like hydra/infestors against them. Infact I just like mass hydra/infestor/muta against everything

If I see a mass amounts of voidrays, just cast fungal growth a couple of times and boom, they are at like half of their life already, and the hydra's can clean up.

2nd of all, I also find it really easy to defend ur base with spore colonies, because unlike sc1 where u had to select each drone individually and make 2 buildings (creep colony, spore colony), you only have to make 1 and you can mass them quickly very fast. This makes it significantly more difficult from them to come at ur base from the side, especially if u have some infestors to fungal growth them a couple of times.

Im really horrible btw. Currently Im a 600 diamond zerg and I was d+ in iccup. I just play fastest sometimes for fun.

Imbalanced maps leads to imbalanced games. I used to be a top FMP player on BW, and quit because I got sick of P imba.

void rays are pretty imba in mass numbers, but not unstoppable. If you're toss, going void rays yourself is probably the best counter, with zerg, fungal growth + AA, with terran, viking+thor

Yeah, I had a huge army in an FFA of stalkers w/ blink and had around 40 supply on some other P, but he had like 18 VR's and I could barely touch him. It kind of sucked. I think they are way too strong in mass numbers it is a little ridiculous. I can't think of a single unit that is that powerful when massed, nothing really even comes close to its power. Carriers in bw were really really fucking powerful, however they took a LONG time to mass hard and they had plenty of things that were strong against them. VR's can just A-Move a base and destroy it way too quickly.

Isn't it standard to build a million defensive structures anyways, turrets do pretty well vs voids even in ridiculous numbers(since you should have like 3 full lines of a million turrets).

The only time I tried FMP it turned into a 5 fps slugfest by midgame (none of the players were maxed out yet), so it's pretty much unplayable for lower specced PCs.

I agree tbh, I get the feeling that gayrays completely ruin 2v2/3v3/etc. They are ridiculously powerful when massed and charged (which is easy with so much stuff around in these types of games) and they make the games so frekin boring, even if you manage to beat them. I normally play these types of games for some relaxed fun but when every single protoss just goes mass rays I don't wanna touch them.
I don't have a problem with them in 1v1 btw.

don't 200/200 carriers beat 200/200 void rays? (it's fastest, you shouldn't be talking in terms that aren't maxed or close)

I've never beat 200/200 void rays, mainly cause it's imba (IMO) and cause my computer lags like hell so i can't micro properly. Void rays in such amounts 1 hits almost everything.

That would be 280-320 food. It is a little hard to take your argument seriously when your facts are so far off.

Isn't the supply cap for Wolf's FMP 300? Not sure 100% since I don't play FMP but I think the one time I did it was.

The supply cap for FMP by Wolf is 300. It was just an estimate. And it is a shit ton of void rays. I didn't sit there and count them all... My point is that once you get way beyond the critical number of void rays, it is REALLY REALLY REALLY hard to stop it with anything. I even tried EMP with mass marines. Marines died so freaking fast that I didn't know what was going on. I feel like they should alter the void ray cool down or charge up or something because it is ridiculously powerful when you have even just 10 void rays. Also, carriers take much longer than void rays to make and people usually attack in FMP with 10 and just start screwing your econ over before you can even start massing the carriers. My issue doesn't just stand for FMP alone, it is also for team matches such as 2v2,3v3,4v4 and like others stated FFA. 1v1, they are fine, but anything else, it is so easy to be distracted by other teammates and this allows for people to mass up large numbers of VRs. When I see 10 VRs in a 2v2, I don't even GG.
