and to add even more trouble, depending on which version of the graphics drivers i use, i cant even select other 16: 9 resolutions besides the native one. currently i am using the latest driver from the laptop manufacturer, which doesnt allow for any 16: 9 resolution (besides the native 1920x1080 ofc). previously i was using the latest mobility catalyst drivers, but there i also could only select one non-native 16: 9 resolution, 1600x900. on the other hand, with this driver i was not able to access the ati avivo features....
my main questions would be the following:
-are there any options for checking or even adjusting the monitor-internal settings like brightness, gamma and temperature on laptop displays? im talking about the hardware side of things, not about 3rd party software like adobe gamma or powerstrip.
- is there any way for finding out what kind of monitor i am using? on any list about the techical details, including the asus homepage itself, it only says "17.3 fullHD display, blabla", but not who made it. therefore i cant select more specific display drivers under the device manager´s driver update interface. there is no driver on the driver and utilities dvd which came with my notebook...
- is there any1 on teamliquid who also got an asus g73jh with a 1920x1080 display? if yes it would be great if u could tell me how the display looks to you (ie your subjective impression about the display and its colors) and which display and graphics drivers u are using.
another problem i got is that because of the high ppi of my monitor (127), everything would look too small unless i use the windows dpi adjusting to 120 dpi. this has the sideffect of significantly fucking up the fonts in various of the programs i am using frequently, namely texniccenter (RC 1.0) and tinn-r aswell as firefox itself. i guess this cant be solved as they are basically legacy-applications without dpi-adjustable visuals. same for the websites which are not displayed properly.
seems like my best bet would be to buy a separate monitor with something like 1920x1080 @ 22 or 23" and colors i like.
sry if this wasnt interesting to read, i just had to let my frustration out somewhere.
edit: btw does any1 know a way of making my new laptop use the display of my old laptop? that way i could solve most of these issues without the need to spend even more.
