First Blog here, and a sad one at that. I really didn't expect my first blog on TL to be about something like this =/
So my girlfriend was on BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) in the San Francisco Bay Area for those who are not familiar with it. Returning from a school day at Berkeley; she got approached by 3 guys on the train who surrounded her and took $200 dollars from her.
Well this is utter bullshit and as I write this blog she's still crying on the train on her way here... Her mom is going to Korea this summer to have medical treatment and she already has no money to deal with all her tuition expenses. So she's in deep shit right now.
It's just utterly depressing and there's not much I can do to help her, nor much she can do about it now...
I'll probably pick up some extra hours at work and throw some money in there myself to cover what I can
Edit: Apology to the TL community for the request of donations... Also Yes the story is true, but meh no way to prove it without going to BART police and asking for the video footage, if the camera actually worked in the particular train...
Update: Ok so 1 day extra @ work + 4 hours overtime (which I did this week anyway) cover pretty much everything (around $180), so I' just gave her that...
Man it really sucks how not safe BART is & the crime rates in the Bay Area... Mind you that this happened on the Richmond - Freemont Train while passing by Oakland... Also I thought it'd be interesting to see any thoughts regarding BART security, for those who are knowledgeable and considering this http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=85440 it's pretty relevant.
