Alright, so I got a yeast infection on my skin down there and went to the cock doc, he told me to soak in salty water 3 times a day. The problem is that it only seems to be helping slightly.
Has anyone else dealt with this bullshit? I could use some advice, gonna see my GP fairly soon if I can't get it to go away.
I've heard of all sorts of shit from salt water to vinegar to monistat (vagina cream for yeast infections) to monistat + vinegar. I'm curious if anyone has had this before and what they did to get rid of it because yeast bacteria are resilient little fuckers.
Hey, at least I was relieved to know it wasn't herpes.
I would definitely talk to the doc, I don't want any 'home remedies' fucking around with me down there. Rather safe than sorry when it concerns down there.

Agreed. That's the last place you want to start experimenting on.

Yeah, I'm not going to be going nuts with every crazy home remedy anyone recommends, I'm just wondering if anyone has had this and what they did to get rid of it lol.
Dunno how it is in Canada but in sweden I would trust the cock doc more than the GP. In Sweden some docs prescribe econazole (according to wikipedia known as ecostatin in Canada). If you go to your GP you might ask about it, see if he thinks it is a good idea.
If the infection persists you might get some systemic anti-fungal like diflucan.
Med. student here, but I haven't done my "cock-semester" so not really sure about this stuff...
lol, i just went to the normal doc (this happened when i was 14ish). i got some cream that you put down there (i think antifungal, fun stuff). I make sure to keep it squeaky clean under the hat now...
EDIT: btw, just be glad you don't have a poison ivy rash (i was so scared, the tip had swelled and had a bouncy ball sized lump on it). wash you're hands before peeing if you've just been planting trees at the cottage.

It's just some red dots dude its not like some nasty dermatology textbooks shit you would find on google images. Calm down and don't look at google images of penises.

I'm reasonably sure I got it from a girl I was seeing since my hygiene is quite good. I could be wrong though because I always use protection (still though condoms only cover so much). I've even heard that the spermicide found on condoms can encourage yeast growth so who knows.

good life lessons...also be careful with heat rub
Funny thing about heat rub. One time when I was like 14 or 15 ish a friend bet me 20 bucks I wouldn't put A535 on my dick. I'm not sure the 20 bucks was worth the 45 minutes of burning pain. Life lessons indeed.
Btw, assuming by "cock doc" you mean "urologist," why are you seeing a urologist for candidiasis? The GP is far more equipped to treat skin pathology than a urologist, even if it happens to be on your schlong.

I figured the guy who has seen hundreds of cases of every variety of STD and tests people on a daily basis would be the one to go to when I woke up with a rash on my dick. Seems pretty logical to me. If I knew what it was beforehand I would have seen my GP or a dermatologist. I was assuming worst case scenario.

There's also no reason to go to a dermatologist for that. Just go to your GP first next time. Urology is a surgical specialty. He deals with testicular torsion, renal colic, penile fracture, etc. He probably wants to shoot himself every time some Johnny Screwsalot walks in the door with the clap.

Well sorry for going to the sexual health clinic and having a urologist walk in? He obviously doesn't care too much about seeing cases of the clap if he works at that place. I didn't choose a urologist, I went to a sexual health clinic to see a "cock doc" (i.e. someone who can tell me what is on my dick) and a urologist walked out. I suppose I could have made that more clear but I don't see the point in berating me for not knowing what the red rash on my dick was and who to see about it. The guy is probably also a gynecologist since I'm reasonably sure hes in charge of the place.

Yeah easy to say, but if I had a problem down there I would want the finest doctor in the land to examine me. Which in this case was the urologist (I think?)
I was dating a girl who had an unexpected visit from the cream cheese fairy and, as a precaution, the doc gave me a single pill that would stop any currently undiscovered assault on my johnson. That's all you have to do and it will go away. Visit your GP or drop by a walk-in clinic and they'll give you what you need. It's pretty standard-fare.

I understand the natural inclination to think this way, but it is seriously a waste of resources to go to the urologist for every problem of the penis. Your family doc (or the docs at these STD clinics) has seen all the common problems a LOT more and will be more experienced in treating them. On the off-chance (seriously, tiny tiny chance especially for skin stuff) you need see a urologist, either: 1) your family doc will capably refer you 2) you are lying in the ER in excruciating pain with your penis bent and even a blind man would know to call him.
my girlfriend had something like that. she went to the furry purse nurse. I also have a problem with bladder control, my pee GP told me just to wear a condom. it was pretty good protection.
Is an urologist better than a dermatologist at treating skin infections in the groin? Just wondering.. seems like weird advice to tell you to soak in salty water 3 times a day and not give you any cream for it. At least the no-medication route is probably more ideal for you if it works.
edit : Ah nvm i just read that u werent referred to an urologist but u went to a walk in clinic.
you are very lucky if its not too severe. i suggest letting cool fresh air run through taht area often to prevent any humidity or heat down there. fungus thrive in those types of conditions. apply your cream regularly and according to the scedule.
also you should use it even after symptoms disappear for a few weeks to ensure total eradication.
btw, you say your hygiene is good. yeast infections can be caused by being too clean. you need some bacteria down there to control the fungus levels. killing the bacteria allows for yeast infections such as the one you are currently suffereing from
I'm just curious.. is it possible to get this from your partner? My girlfriend had it for a while (of course we didn't partake in sexual intercourse during the outbreak), and we're sure it's gone now, but just for future reference.. can you? I'm circumsized so I know it can't develop under my skin, so to speak. :o

Yeah, the doctor I saw explained that it can be transmitted sexually but isn't really classified as an STD, so you definitely don't want to be having sex while either of you has it otherwise you can just pass it back and forth. I assuming I got it from my partner.

ditto'd, like how the fuck is that even possible? Do you like rub shit into your dick hole and get it dirty or something? Also what exactly does a Yeast infection feel like? I'd imagine it couldn't be much worse than putting salt or vinegar on/in your dick 3 times a day.

That's exactly how it happens the majority of the time, as it's pretty easy for a guy to keep his knob clean.
If you have condom-free sex with your partner, you can get it even before she starts showing the typical symptoms. So if you're partner tells you she has a yeast infection and you've had sex with her in the last week or so, better go get some drugs and take the 'better safe than sorry' route. I mean shit, it's your dick.
