It's a slogan for a new web start-up I'm working on (just planning and designing at the moment). Without giving too much away in one sentence, here is a rough description of what Riiot is..
"Riiot is an exlusive, invite-only, social network of opinionated peers that want to reclaim the news from the mass media through online journalism."
Which one do you like best (more memorable), or rather which rolls off the tongue better?
Poll: What's your flavor?Incite a crowd. Be heard. Riiot. (23) 53% Ignite a crowd. You're here, You exist. Riiot. (20) 47% 43 total votes Your vote: What's your flavor? (Vote): Incite a crowd. Be heard. Riiot. (Vote): Ignite a crowd. You're here, You exist. Riiot.
Oh, and.. the part that bugs me about the longer one is that, in the literal word usage, you you don't "ignite a crowd" since igniting has to do with flames, but you can incite a crowd (incite means to stir something up). Furthermore, the "you're here, you exist" is kind of redundant since they're both essentially saying the same thing.

the first sounds really generic, i like the second one better
|
I like the "Ignite a crowd. You're here, You exist. Riiot. " one. Sounds much better and more unique. The website premises looks interesting too. Good luck with it, wouldn't mind getting an invite to it from the sounds of it either ^_^
|
It's too long. 'Ignite a crowd' is better than either option.
|
|
how about you take the best of both worlds and go "Incite a crowd. Ignite a crowd. Riiot."
|
The 1st one is way too long. I think something simpler would be the best, perhaps just..
Be heard, Riiot. Only news: Riiot Riiot, news riot
I suck.
|
how about just Ignite. Riiot.
|
"Ignite a crowd. You're here, You exist. Riiot." is much too long for a slogan
|
I like the first one but just You're here, You exist. Riiot. It is kinda long for a slogan though
Also, this sounds interesting. Would love to hear more info on it.
|
I think the suggestions are looking good, choose out of those instead of the ones in the poll imo. They're pretty spot-on about how length can be detrimental.
|
not sure if this fits..
Don't hide it. Riiot.
|
I don't quite like either one... they're both kinda awkward for a slogan, especially the first one.
Something short and sweet like "Riiot... Go on, start something..."
Might be easier for people to remember and spread. Remember some of the best slogans around
"Just do it" (Nike) "The Real Thing" (Coke) "Intel Inside" (Intel)
Just for something to think about
|
What about just "Reclaim the news: Riiot."?

Just for something to think about "just 15 minutes could save you time and money on your auto insurance" well, i dont know how many ppl remember that slogan over the typical opening of "i just saved 15% on my car insurance"

The story behind the geico ad is awesome-
The creative guys at the agency in charge of making those ads brought the gecko to their boss, who rejected it. They brought it again next time they saw him, so he told them if they could bring him three good alternatives, he'd present it to the client as an afterthought. They brought him the three, so he brought it to the meeting with Geico, and they loved it, and ran those ads.
Now that those are some of the most popular commercials on TV, the new ads with the older guy proposing slogans like "Geico: It's the bees' knees" are the boss making fun of himself for not seeing the potential in the earlier ads.

Ignore the crowd. Make your own news. Riiiiiiiot!
|
It seems to me that if you're trying to appeal to well-educated, opinionated journalists and peers, you should avoid 'ignite' if you feel the usage is somewhat improper. Also, I like luminaire's suggestion.

"You´r news, you´r Riiot"

LOL wtf with all those slogans OP? You need something catchy and easy to remember, so I would use just "Incite. Ignite." You gave yourself the answer on your own and couldn't see it.
|
^^ based on 50bani's post: "Incite. Ignite. Inspire. Riiot."
|
Now that's just too many single words.

Of the choices, I dont like the one with "you're here, you exist...". It sounds a bit cheesy or... too highschoolish (for lack of a better term :p).
"Incite a crowd. Be heard. Riiot." Seems okay.. Although personally to incite people has negative connotations for me, but that's personal opinion. Usually I like ignite, but Ignite a crowd seems negative too.. I'm like picturing protestors set on fire :O

Just curious, is "riiot" an acronym of some sort, or just spelled like that for effect or other reasons?

"Start a Riiot by lighting a crowd of people on fire"

I don't like the first slogan at all. The "be heard" part is extremely generic right now. Everyone is using that in marketing and it makes me roll my eyes.
The second one is not bad, the part "You exist" evokes a lot of emotion both good and bad which is exactly what you want in a slogan. Its hard to type out the emotion I felt with that one, but it was similar to "That's right -the man-, I do exist! And also, thank you Riiot for being on my side". I know it sounds sarcastic or lame, but thats as good as I can describe the emotion.

It's Riiot because I have the domain riiot.com (riot.com is already taken, unsurprisingly). I had no other option but to go with all the other trending start-ups, such as Digg (dig) or Tumblr (tumbler). I didn't want to use some other domain like letsriot.com or newsriot.com because it wasn't memorable.
