It would make me so happy if they reimplemented it into proleague, even if it's only 1 game per match. 2:2 games were really refreshing after a bunch of 1:1s, and they could easily make or break the proleague match for the two teams. I miss seeing the sick teamwork and 2v2 strategies that only korean pros could analyze and pull off, as well as the mostly-failures of 1v2 comeback attempts. Past times, good times..
Great [obligatory] 2v2, not one of the bests I've seen but still really worth watching, featuring two of my favorite players (and rivals) on the same team
Watching this back then, I obviously had no experience in 2v2, so I was really intrigued at how July stayed super low econ and just massed speedlings, ignoring the threat of thezerg's mutas, as well as oov's early map control after they stopped the first wave of zealots/lings.
Started since the start of the OGN Proleague, stopped in 2007. There have been some amazing 2v2 games, I think I had a list somewhere but lemme check my blog

Part of its decline I think were the maps. There were some really awesome old school 2v2 maps but as time went on they got worse and worse. And generally the best players weren't the ones playing 2v2 for obvious reason, owing to its decline and eventual exclusion.
There was also the balance issue as in ZZ teams were disallowed and PT was impossible and no team played without a Z because of Zs ability to pump lings early. Dunno if this is solved in SC2 but I guess we'll find out.
There were some really awesome 2v2s but in general I find I don't miss them that much. There wasn't a whole lot of ingenuity and they usually ended in like 7 minutes with masses of tier one units teaming up on one guy and the other being late to respond and then gg.

ZZ wasn't specifically targeted; all same race teams were disallowed.
not that anyone would really want to send out a PP or TT team, but....

There was a 2v2 game i remember where Nal_rA mind controlled enemy dropships full of goliath. 2v2's back then were so awesome. I remember Reach and Yellow were like the unstoppable 2v2 team. Man i miss KTF 2v2s

You're the only other person I know that likes DMZ. Why does the TLPD-ize of DMZ fail to link to the proper page?
It would be amazing if a good ICC 2v2 player started a live stream.
One summer I watched like every pro 2v2 and a lot of them are pretty sick, they should have just made really crazy maps instead of killing the game type completely
