Well earlier today there was an interesting thread about someone who apparently won a game, with his opponent gging, and then raging on teamliquid after his opponent mustered up an army and attacked him. See this thread if you'd like to read it. People seemed to have conflicting rules on this topic, several TLers feeling like such an injustice has been committed that they flame YouFail (winner of match) leading him to report three of them. I felt more along the side of "you're stupid for letting this happen to you and it's your fault."
Here is YouFail's opinion.
YouFail: i am sorry, the guy told me like 9000 times when he was raging that he will upload the repaly, if he didnt then why would i bother to incrimenate myself? reason he didnt upload it is that he wouldnt hvae been able to end it even had i not said gg i had a pf and 2 or 3 vikings at thend with like 50 scvs. he had like 16 roaches and 2 infestors even a copper league player as terran would win in that scenario. oh, and he had 169 minerals and no expansion and only like 12 drones. i am glad you didnt spam me with useless !@#$, as i already had to report like 3 people for harassment actually, on second thought, i will e-mail you the link to the replay. This guy lied in his post and I want everyone to see it. He DID NOT have an army to finish me off or even could have if he wanted to.
So I told him I'd upload the replay to get him a bit of acquittal, but seeing as how people have probably forgotten about this already and bringing it up again isn't really doing anything for either of them, I hope you guys could give your thougts on gging in general.
Here is the replay in question that was never uploaded in the original post: [url blocked]
For those of you not really interested, I promise that the replay contains some very humorous dialogue about the "honor" of gging. It's also pretty apparrent that the first player (ultimate loser of the game), never really stops macroing, and it becomes clearly very quickly after YouFail ggs that he is not in fact out of the game.
Your thoughts?

So youfail's new tactic is to feign death...and hit him while hes unprepared...
How did you get youfails opinion anyhow... =D

that sucks for that guy who lost. hope he learns his lesson and keeps his focus even after a gg and only relax after he has left the game. at first, i thought this was about manners of gging. anyway i never gg after the guy gg's because it ruins my focus on the game. i dont care about manners because i do not know you and if u feel that im bm by not gging, then ur just being a baby. off topic lol

Your thoughts?
My thoughts is that every goddamn week there's a blog or thread about "gg'ing" or "BM", and they bring nothing new to the discussion.
1. Play the game until your opponent leaves 2. Stop being a little bitch about BM and someone not typing GG. Man up and see #1 3. There are ways to deal with BM, namely squelching or #2.

Seriously this. I hate people who complain that not GG'ing is BM, who the fuck cares if you GG. Even after someone leaves I'm still in "playing mode" and continue to macro/micro/whatever for the next 2 secs till I get victory screen.

i agree i only gg if its a really epic and awesome game if its just a normal game then i'll leave if they do something like proxy me or any other kind if cheese i say something bm and leave.

If you GG leave. Simple as that. If you aren't in an absolutely losing position (game described in OP wasn't over) don't GG. You can't look back on a replay and say Oh Gee looks like I was right for not leaving when I said I would. It's fucking stupid and irritating.

Saying "Good Game" doesnt end the game its just a way to say it was a good game, i have had people gg me half way thru a game and reply with " yep this is good", only the surrender button means you lose.

Its frustrating when people gg and don't leave. We are all accustomed to being manner on tl but the ladder can twist any player. Just learn from your mistakes and don't make it next time. Also the ladder is about to reset so who cares now lol

the obvious.. he IS youfail!!! AHHHHHHHHHH

Focus on how YOU can make the ladder better. What other people do is out of your control.

loooooooooooool. what if he's just trolling us epic :D
who cares. grow up

Theres never a reason to stop going at him like a spider monkey until he's out of the game. I never let my guard down, and i try not to stop goin fuckin hard on the macro even when im in a huge lead.
This shouldn't work lol.. simple as that.

Nope, I just messaged him without being an asshole. My id is getSome.teamliquid
Anyways I know that gging is a topic that gets enough attention but I thought the replay is good enough to get its own thread.

Slightly offtopic maybe, but what do you think about saying gg when you're winning? I mean if the other player doesn't say anything but is obviously losing, do you consider it bm to say gg then?
I sometimes say gg before destroying my opponent's last building. It's a bit different in sc2 because your opponents base is being revealed so that you can actually know if the other player is losing, that wasn't really possible in the same way in sc bw.
|
I offensive gg if I think they are new and won't know when to leave, just to drop the hint that it's over so they don't waste time. Also if I wanna rub it in that I won (like when they were dicks or something).
As for gging I think it's pretty unnecessary, though you can't really shake hands after a match so I guess it's all we've got. I don't say it that often unless it was literally a good game or well played.

This. A lot of guys who post here are now new to the whole scene cause of SC2 or they were around for sc1 but never really played high level or whatever so you don't understand that its like an unwritten rule in competitive SC thats been understood by any decent level player since at least 2001, if you say GG that means you admit defeat. KeSPA even has this in their rules.

To the above about the probable winner saying gg before the loser. I find this EXTREMELY BM. More so than not saying gg when you leave a game or etc. Much more so. Especially when they do it before it is even called for really.
I'm so strong minded about this I guess, because I had this happen to me last night (I was the loser) and I raged hard. What happened is that he had just broken my ramp with a superior army after I had been way too strong on my aggression and losing more units than I should have for too little gain and the guy comes in the door with a "gg". I just find it way unmannered to do that. Fuck it pissed me, as I knew I was finished and was losing at that point and the guy didnt even have the manner to wait 2 seconds for me to get around to saying it. And yeah the guy definitely was not saying gg seriously, like in hey good game, I enjoyed that, more like a very sarcastic asshole gg.
