Let me guess... people say what you like isn't "metal"? Seriously just a guess.

Also to Konadora all of the bands mentioned are great choices but if you want a really good power metal experience I can't say enough about Kamelot - The Black Halo. It's an album and I do that because to only list songs would not do the entire event of listening to it justice.

edit: HAHA Macavenger said the same thing basically.

It's also good to see the album mentioned a few times

& I guess a video is mandatory

Edguy is another good choice. I remember wearing my Edguy shirt to the DC LAN and somebody asked me "wtf is an... ed... guy?"

Three instant recommendations:

(FIN) Stratovarius - Visions
(FIN) Ensiferum - self titled
(GER) Blind Guardian - Nightfall in middle earth

These three albums are masterpieces. I have no idea how Ensiferum managed to make such an incredibly awesome debut album. I'm amazed to this very day. Visions is possibly Stratovarius finest moment and Nightfall in middle earth is on my top 10 albums of ALL time.

PS. Manowar are awesome too. I don't care if they take themselves very seriously or enter the stage on motorcycles. They make so good music.

haha I have like no idea who any mainstream artists are. All I know is that all the popular radio stations these days play the same five songs over and over.
