What ever happened to the true meanings of words in the real world? I mean, when you hear the word, Boxer, what comes to mind these days? Is it this guy + Show Spoiler +
[image loading]
, or this guy + Show Spoiler +
[image loading]
? What I think is that this guy most definitely comes to mind, + Show Spoiler +
[image loading]
. Not only does boxer have new meaning in life, but also flash. It used to mean this + Show Spoiler +
[image loading]
, or this, + Show Spoiler +
[image loading]
, but now a days, it just means this guy + Show Spoiler +
[image loading]
.

Haha funny. I'm sure you are aware that this doesn't apply for these words for about 98% of the population.

It obviously depends on the context.

"I have a boxer"
"He's a boxer"
"I love watching Boxer"

I can't imagine any instance of me mixing these three words up.

Also, the other two kinds of Flash are both verbs making these really... wrong.

It can happen when every progamer and their mother chooses a random English word as their nick. Stork, Movie, Shine, Violet, Luxury, Tempest, Mind, Free, Action, Baby etc.

Movie's actual name is 영화 (romanized young hwa), which means movie in korean.

I'm actually pretty disturbed by what WoW and I guess video gaming in general has done to the word 'epic.' It's become a buzz word that's completely synonymous with massive/great and it means every time I use it in its original—perhaps now archaic—meaning, I have to go out of my way to say so (which ruins the efficiency of language).

I'm not against evolution of language... far from it. But I think this is devolution of language. Some words are getting less and less specific, so that they become so general you can't convey your point as efficiently to a modern audience. For someone like me who likes simple, common words, that presents a real challenge in communication (especially writing). I don't want to use obscure words you have to look up... because that will also reduce the efficiency of communication... So it's just all around lose-lose...

Anyway, sorry to get serious in a playful thread, but it's something that irks me and I had to say it lol.

Blame 4chan and its explosion in popularity first. The words 'epic,' 'legendary,' 'fail' and 'win' are those that have become transmuted into shadows of themselves.

"He's a boxer"

Is that someone who packs boxes all day?

Technically true but what I said was intended to focus on smooth delivery rather than specifically accurate content.

would come to mind before the picture of the camera but that's just me.

But yeah... a picture of a korean will always come to mind when I hear those words. (T)fantasy, (T)BoxeR, (T)Mind, (T)Flash, (Z)EffOrt...honestly, there is just too many to name. Even when I hear about go-go dancers, I'm going to think about (T)go.go before I think about hot chicks.
