They're not protected or anything, but no one would do that here. Unlike other countries there is very little illegal graffiti and most people have respect for something like this so they wouldn't damage it. (I have to say I do miss well done graffiti, but sadly it's just not present here in most places.)

Actually I wasn't focusing on him at all when I was ninja photo taking, but the guy who is in the blurred area behind him. In that shot he just happened to wander past. I liked the composition though so I kept it.
Also Smix - that's what I was thinking too. Some of the tiles further up had photos set into them as well and it was really intriguing me as to where everyone who contributed something is now.

Um it's called bokeh.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bokeh
I'm using a DSLR so my photos obviously don't turn out like a cheap digital camera. Also if you bothered to read the notes you'd see that I was photographing in very awkward conditions not using my external flash unit (because I didn't own it back then.) Please don't complain when I explained myself in the notes. ~_~ It puts me off taking more photos when people say things like that.
TLDR: Read the notes and don't bitch. I'm doing my best to learn and practice so obviously I'm not going to be some award winning photographer after only a couple of months using my new camera.

That would be a nice thing to do I think. There must've been at least 500 tiles in this stair well. Every single one of them was used. I think it's a lovely way to remember their university time even if it wasn't in a well lit place.

When we have time Susie and I are planning to take our cameras out into Seoul for a photo day. We both need to practice using Canon so hopefully we can experiment and come up with some fun shots

The sad face says different. I just don't like repeating myself when I've already explained why the edges are blurred. It sounds like whining to me and that pisses me off.

That's up to Susie - since she's the one with the packed schedule. Also we need to wait for the weather to clear up because it's currently far too dangerous to take cameras out due to the snow.

I saw the news on KBSWorld that the snow was so bad that you couldn't drive cars around and the subway was totally packed lol.
Looked pretty though.

Quite literally - I get motion sickness. I can't go on buses or coaches. Luckily trains and planes are fine. I do love how cheap they are here compared to England though.

There was one day (last Monday.) where it was a blizzard. Somehow I made it to work using walking/the subway only to find my school was closed. So I ended up going shopping instead

Great picture NeverGG. I wish we had something like that here.
I also thought that the blurry edges were supposed to turn out that way, focusing the attention on only one picture at a time

A cheap digital camera would have caused flare and over-exposure due to having to use flash. So no, it wouldn't have been better unless you wanted a shitty photo which wouldn't have even been large enough to make into a desktop.

Wow I love these, they're so cute! It's nice to know that people respect it enough not to vandalize it. Hope that thing lasts forever and people who drew and wrote on it can see it again a few years down the road.
I especially like this one~

i am sure a semi-decent point and shoot on macro mode would have resulted in very similar quality photos for this subject -- at least in this resolution hardly "shitty"
edit: ok except for that candid pic of guy.. looks like that requires a longer lens than usual

In almost complete darkness without using flash - yeah suuuuuuuuure. Don't try to argue with me on this. Point and shoot is *always* trumped by DSLR. In photography you get what you pay for.
|
Good shit. I wish I can learn to take some photos like this... -_-
|
obviously dslr is better than point and shoot all i am saying that for this type of photos-- close range macro with not the most remarkable bokeh--point and shoot would do almost as well, at least without pixel peeping i doubt this was in "almost complete darkness" even with the fastest lenses, (around f1.4) on wide open, handheld shots would be impossible tldr: for these types of pics (not your usual work) a point and shoot would do 90% as well for less than 10% of cost

Were you there with me at this location? No. So don't assume to tell me what the lighting conditions were like. Basically, it comes down to this - I don't want some piece of crap cheap digital camera and I *know* that one would not have been able to cope with this lighting. End of story, get out of my blog thank you very much.

Yeah, pretty much. I'm stressed out of my mind with work - extra classes and a massive show to prepare for which I am solely responsible for the largest part of. I'm just not taking any crap from people either. Taking two months off wasn't just about my physical health.

Any decent p/s these days is going to have flash compensation and more than enough focal length to get distance for nice even flash, and the smaller sensor format will give way more DOF for a given magnification and aperture setting.
For natural light like you're going for here though, nothing beats a nice fast lens - looks like you're using a 50/1,4 or so? and a DSLR with a decent size sensor for better noise performance.
