Some really cool fight sequences in that video, really enjoyed it. Probably need to upgrade my comp to get the most enjoyment (and not lag) if I want to play that.
i wish my comp could actually run aion. well, it can, but i lag horribly in cities and have everything down to low to play the game, which is the only reason i stopped. i was fine playing it because i enjoyed the gameplay, but knew i was missing out on a lot. if i ever get a better computer aion is the first game im reinstalling. my laptop would explode if i tried to play with everything they did in that trailer ;x
finished watching it, holy crap is a appropriate response.
watching the trailer on HD made me want to quit women, warhammer and pretty much all of real life... I just hope i won't spend 5x the cost of the game on computer parts lol
Most of that trailer was cinematics/cutscenes/scripted events. Not too exciting for me, tbh. I'd prefer if they would actually implement some PvP content besides a PvE instance(!!) you can do once a day and fortresses where you can only accomplish something if you have a zerg of 200 with you. Never mind the flawed AP system that rewards PvEing more than PvPing or the PvP items that require you to be in a zerg-guild so you can actually get gold coins. Or the horrible air combat. Or the balance of the classes. Or the dependency on 0.01% dropchance items (sup %atk speed / extendables).
If they promised to fix that instead of pumping out even more PvE grind content I'd actually be hyped.

I took over serveral fortresses in the upper abyss with less than 60 people in bad gear and nearly all of them below 50. I earn AP by killing people that are grinding fortress guards for AP but I have to agree PvE is more rewarding in terms of AP at the moment. I did get 2 gold coins when I was SOLO. I like the low drop rates as there is not everyone running around in endgame gear after 1 month like in other games and it makes crafting more important. If you don't like the game fine but don't spread false information just because you're terrible.

And how many of the opposing faction were there when you took the fort? Every single siege on my server I've been to was a zerg fest of 400+ players. Heck, even when we went to an upper fort when there were barely any lvl 45+ with ~40 man, we got zerged by 200 lvl 25 asmos after 10 minutes that came running from defending the lower forts where the action was usually concentrated.
Just wondering, are you playing a sorc or ranger? Because as a Glad/Sin you definitely won't be getting any coins SOLO when fortress bosses hit for 5k+ AE, and you'd know that you need rare attackspeed items to even be remotely able to keep up with ranged classes' dps and CC.
Or do you want to tell me that a glad in green gear is as powerful as a sorc in greens? If you need certain (low-drop) items to balance out classes, there is a problem in the game's design; that's what I'm saying.

Of course you can't expect to take over a fortress easily when there are as many or more defenders as attackers. I agree that in the lower abyss taking over fortresses is a huge zergfest at the moment. But once there are more 45+ players and 2, 3 or 4 fortress are vulnerable at the same time it will spread out. And also if the opposing faction is better organized who do you want to blame?

I'm just proofing a point. You don't need to be in an uber 24man level 50 alliance to get gold medals. Have a healer in your group and you're good to go. In the lower abyss a level 45 assasin can tank the whole fight. High-level Glads and Assasins put out very good DPS. Don't know where you're getting this from.

Sorc is a really strong class I agree but they do scale worse with gear than other classes. But I don't want to talk about balance. It's not perfect and it's not possible to balance it perfectly. Level 1 - 50. From green gear to orange gear. Can't be done. Overall I think it's fine.
I'm mainly concerned with PvP, especially 6v6, so I don't really care how much dps certain classes do on stationary mobs - what counts for me is the effectiveness of classes in groups where CC, healing and focus fire is flying around.

See, that's exactly the problem - it can be done, or at least to a degree where it isn't very noticable. In AION, you have %atkspeed gear that makes glads go from gimp to uber with just two(!) items, whereas other classes, such as sorc or cleric scale very smoothly with items, without high bumps in effectiveness. The same thing could be observed for example in WoW when casters got their first spelldamage trinkets from MC, as there was basically no +sdmg available before. Casters suddenly got a huge boost in effectiveness and were able to 2-shot others.
The general consensus seems to be that AION is relatively balanced when talking about fully decked out toons, and I guess I agree with this. But when certain key items are very rare and hard to obtain, the balance gets thrown off for a majority of the earlier stages after release, and to a certain degree even after that, as some items are very high in demand, thus messing up the economy and leading to overfarming of some mobs/ressources. Guess why crafted atkspeed gloves go for 2-3m+ and others are put up for 400k and don't sell.
What SHOULD have been done is make sure the game is balanced at the best equip possible, let all damage/survivability scale at the same rate for all classes, and then itemize in such a way that you get the same state of balance at every level with equal gear. For the particular case I'm talking about this would for example translate to: atkspeed on all items with appropiate numbers. DAoC did this pretty well, you had a cap on all stats like weapon dps, str, resists etc., and the game could be balanced by comparing fully maxed chars, no matter what items you introduce, as it was possible to get maxed with crafted and quest items. (Well, then they did ToA and everything got broken with new stats introduced, but .. the theory was good).
Like, would it have been so hard to make sure all blue/orange weapons have attackspeed, starting from 1% at lvl 20 to 19% at lvl 50, so you get some kind of balance on all levels, and not only at endgame gear? Or not give sorcs timed/dp spells that take off 75% of your hp with ridiculous base damage but don't get much better even when you go from greens to epics? Or not give glads two 2s casttime melee spells at lvl 50 that crit for 5k - and a 10s unbreakable root on a timer? It's all those little things that throw off the PvP balance, even though they make no difference in PvE fights where the average dps doesn't experience any abnormalities from sudden spike damage.
Well, maybe I'm just spoiled by classic DAoC where I could grind to 50, get 2 ppl to do a few quests for jewelry, get my crafted set and go out to PvP as much as I wanted with a maxed char, endgame being advancing in realm ranks gained through PvP, and not in items gained from PvE ..
Elaeli, your clueless. I play Assassin and I make Medals EVERY siege I've been to. Maybe if you would hit above 30 you wouldn't get one hitted by the deity. Do you go there with a healer? Assassins especially have a easy time because we can resist it's skills.
Also ever since they fixed the crashing issues and added BONUSES FOR DEFENSE, fortresses took a turn from zerg fests into organized alliance based PvP. I know it's in my server like that, why not in yours? My clan is in an alliance with 3 other clans, we control 3 of the upper castles that we took, AND defended together. Even against the opposite faction zerg. How? 3 organized clans with organized parties > zerg that have no idea how to work together. Of course the other faction clans been forming their own alliances, and we actually have competition, just makes the game that much more fun.
Aion is great, but it's not the perfect MMO (no MMO is perfect) but it looks the best and overall has a good feel to it. I've been playing it since release. And the amount of whine it has gotten from WoW kids is astonishing. WoW players are just horrible, lol.
If you guys are looking for 1v1 balanced game, AION is NOT it. Some classes are clearly stronger in 1v1s. And I couldn't care less. This game is based on small scale - mass PvP. Unlike from WoW, you actually feel like your playing a class. All classes have their own skills, and all classes can do something useful in PvP and in PvE. That works for me. They just bring something else to the table.
WoW kids = spoiled.
The droprates were slightly increased since last patch by the way, and way things are looking, they might even increase them more. And I can understand if some people want them increased, I'm myself from L2 so I'm used to not having it easy.
Aircombat works too if your smart. 1v1 aircombat can be a bitch. If your ranged class, aircombat is tons of fun. Though there are some issues they should fix. But I'm overall happy with the feature.
