Don't know too much about computers.... :p That ram will work fine, but also consider downgrading to a slower speed and putting the money towards graphics, as a good graphics card will be the most important thing in a gaming build. http://www.komplett.ie/k/ki.aspx?sku=347969

Why are you aiming for a Q9550 when the i5 beats it in prices and at least matches performance? The mobo used wasn't cheap enough to justify it. Also, is there a budget? This build is a weird mix of things from different ranges.
|
The DDR3 memory will not work with that board. The GT220 = 9600GT. Why don't you go with a cheaper LGA775 processor (e8400 or e8500), 4gb ddr2-1200 (it exists), and like a gtx260? would be a much more complete and powerful build. Also you should probably go with a 600+ watt PSU for future upgrades sake.Swapping out a PSU can be fucking annoying.

Kind of hard to guess at the guy's budget, what with the smattering of Dominator and a GT220...
|
go for quality not quantity/size when it comes to screens!!
|
You should get at least 4870 for the videocard or 5770 instead if you can find it at the same price.
GT220 = garbage.

I like ghermination's suggestions. Don't forget Cpu/Gpu coolers in budget they help a lot with overclocking and especially since video cards these days come with shit coolers that sound like jet-engines and only cool like 1/2 of what aftermarkets are capable of while being 10x louder
|
Completely agree about the case, that is not an opinion it is a fact.

For that mobo/CPU price Get i5. For games you need better GPU, if you can't afford it then you must cut the price elsewhere.
Ok so you cut 50 on case (as proposed), you get Athlon II 250 + ASUS M4A785TD-M EVO, Socket-AM3. You save about 180 + 76 (GT220 price) = 256 that is almost HD5850 in games the difference will be huge.

GT220 is a low-entry graphic card, it is not garbage but I wouldn't be getting them for a desktop. I would rather get them for a Linux box or HTPC.
I also recommend that you not going down the socket 775 path, Phenom II 945 smokes any 775 quads.
Or you can get i5 which is even better and probably cheaper.

All this information is great. Thanks very much to you all. I'll read through it carefully and try to decide. My budget is about 800 euro. Probably should have mentioned that in the opening. Thank guys

I've decided to switch to DDR3, I think it'll be far better in the long run with regards upgrading parts and that.
|
I have no idea how hardware prices are in Europe, but given NA prices at the current exchange rate, that's practically enough for an i7 build, but i5 + 5850 is probably better, rest kind of depends on preferences, there is the option of getting ssd/velociraptor and stuff.

Keep the Corsair 520 it will be enough ( + it has 5 years warranty ). I have this PSU and it is really good.
edit: didn't see you changed the CPU. I5 is GOOD Antec 300 is a good case.
You need to change the GPU though. 9800GT is really old and weak. 4870 / 4890 / 5770 depending of your budget / interest in Dx11 games. No offense to Nvidia but ATI has better products atm.
