It's the single programs that cannot use more than 4 GB of RAM and even this is not true with NT and upper OSes, so no worries, just turn on the PAE bit from your BIOS, if it isn't already whats PAE and how do i turn it on?

Physical Address Extension, something of a ghetto hack for 32-bit systems (but very likely not yours). I can't imagine using a 32-bit system to address more than 2^32 memory is as fast as using a 64-bit system for that purpose. Check the table.
Granted, 3 GB main memory is plenty for most games and applications.

It's a mathmatical limit. Switching to 64 bit would allow you to fully utilise the 6GB's of RAM. You can only use 3gb iirc. So half his ram is useless. Yep, it's 3GB. Wrong, it's 4GB. 32Bit can allocate 4.294.967.296 bytes. That Windows only shows about 3ish to the user (or will only use so much) is because the rest is reserved for hardware devices.
I'm tempted to believe you since my knowledge of computers isn't the greatest, but isn't it that the OS can only address up to 3.12 (or was it 3.25?)GB RAM and the rest are used for background hardware processes?
Then sure you could say it's 4GB, but not without a caveat.

DL civ2. I got my new comp last night and celebrated with 8 hrs of civ while Empire:TW sat sadly in the corner.
Oh, buy that btw

Hmmm... that system really works OK with a 300W PS? Props to intel I guess.
|
You poor guy lol Who sold you this stuff?
|
Get Windows 7 64-bit when it comes out tomorrow. Also get a new damn power supply, 300W? That's a piece of crap.
|
Wow man what a shitty setup. Why does no one ever listen when people say they should build their own? BTW, gt220 = 9600gt. What a waste of money.

Video card might have trouble depending how high you run the resolution.
uh dont flame me but 1.6k I hope that's not in american dollars, because that system doesn't cost 1/2 that here in US.

The CPU is like 1200~1300. The monitor costs like 200~300
|
Ummm, that's still a lot of money
EDIT: I don't know about the availability of hardware in Singapore, or how you got it, so I can't say much. I wouldn't sweat it too much. It sucks regretting a purchase or feeling bad about it, just enjoy it; it's not a bad system.
And you also got a monitor? Awesome.

Well, it says he lives in "Singapore."

Well if its SGD, then it's not that bad, but still could have been better. Videocard is kinda weak for that money tho.
The CPU is like 1200~1300. The monitor costs like 200~300 That processor does not cost that much. Maybe you have it the other way around? Looks like monitor would be 1200 and cpu ~ 300 SGD

the computer is not that bad, with some upgrades you can have a pretty nice computer.
