**I started this as sort of asking for advice, which I'll still keep part of it... but really just the process of writing this blog helped clear my mind a bit so I'm feeling better... but I'll still keep everything just in case people want to chime in with opinions**
Ok so as some may know, I read Kennigit's online dating blog and thought "fuck it I'll sign up on that site too and see what happens" (I made a joke blog about that, but I actually did sign up and make a real profile and whatnot). So I made my goal for the summer to meet at least one really interesting / good looking person. I finally accomplished my goal, and with one week to spare left in my summer break. Once I told her about my Starcraft team managing skills she melted like butter in my arms.
But seriously, so I went on my first "date" today. And I'm here to ask TL how it went because I have no idea how to analyze these situations especially because I've really never been on a "date" before. This meaning, I've hung out with girls and stuff, and I've had girlfriends, but I've never been in a situation where we arranged to meet specifically for the purpose of going on a date, if that makes sense? Anyways...
So she chooses this place (I had no idea but it turns out to be a REALLY fancy steakhouse), we meet up and she's dressed up nicely, cool I thought. Somehow the topic of my childhood and stuff comes up, and honestly I had a really bad and depressing childhood, so I wasn't sure how to handle that situation because I didn't just want to talk about depressing shit, but I felt kinda sucked into it somehow... so I talked about that for awhile before changing the subject. Talked a lot about shit she's interested and her family and whatnot.
We ate, food was really really good, bill was fucking ridiculously expensive. Here's my conversation:
Me: "I got it don't worry"
My brain: *shits pants*
My brain: "fuck you you fucking bitch why did you take me to a place that charges $100 for a fucking dinner FUCKDSFK:DSFLDSKD I'm a fucking poor Starcraft admin FUCKSDFKDSLFSL"
That was my thought process while I smiled and kindly paid the check. So we talked for about an hour or so more, got some frozen yogurt (she paid for it zomg thanks for the fucking $8 bitch!)... and then she drove me back to where I had parked. She invited me to go clubbing with her later in the week and I was like "alright sure thing"
So I'm pretty sure she picked a fancy ass place to eat because she's rich as fuck, from what I could tell (lives with her grandpa in some huge house in Bel Air and they have their own chef?)... and uh, ya. I feel like it went well but I dunno... I was able to be funny, made her laugh, she asked me to hang out again, we have quite a few things in common, bla bla.
So hmm... I'm leaving California on Saturday... and I'm guessing I'm going to see her one more time before I leave, I guess we're going to a club, but we might have dinner again or something before that.
I dunno.... random thoughts spilling out onto teamliquid. discuss... ? FUCK I DUNNO! AND I DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT I DONT KNOW.

Sounds bad so far... you should have felt out if you two lived in compatible worlds before the initial meet. First dates should never been so fancy, hard to relax.

If she's really rich, maybe you should be the one doing the gold digging... to pay for CSL expenses and whatnot. I'm sure you'll have a fun time clubbing, and it should be considerably less expensive...

P.S. It seems like it went well, probably thinks that you're an okay guy. I avoid club situtaions because I would kill a guy if he grinded up on my girlfriend, so make sure you know beforehand how you will react in particular situations when you do meet up with her the next time.

I think in your position, the best way to move on from here is to somehow let her know that you're not exactly Scrooge McDuck. Essentially, you need to find out exactly what you having or not having money means to this potential relationship.
Ideally, it's something you can do in a light manner, maybe even be self-depreciating about your own current financial situation. You don't want to grab her arms and say, "Look, I can't afford these dinners, I'm poor." Joke about how you're saving money for X Y Z, but in a way that she understands you can't drop $100 every few days on her.
Maybe she'll be a real princess and blow you off, or maybe she'll be down to earth and get it. Better you find out sooner rather than a few hundred later.

Doesn't sound like it will go anywhere. Seems like she is the type that will try to make you pay for things because she knows you will try and impress her. I say drop it, she doesn't sound like someone fun (who the fuck chooses a steak house on a first date?!). She will probably dump you for the next rich guy she sees.

she's most likely using you. all the dates ive been on we've gone dutch, or the girl has insisted on paying. that's just my experience though. dating these days usually doesnt abide to the "guy pays for everything" rule. that whole feminism thing and such
