there's a weird phenomenon where people in the thread bait themselves into attacking xdaunt like pitbulls. their eyes roll into the back of their skull and they are unable to delatch until the blood rage is over. it tends to make argument difficult. you know, like basic reading comprehension and reasonable interpretation This is the part about the moderation that I don't understand. It's really obvious what's going on. Why in the world would they tolerate it, particularly when it is as egregious as what dangermousecatdog has been doing? Is it really their position that dangermousecatdog is the kind of poster that they want in the thread? That his types of posts are the types of posts that they want in the thread? That kind of aggressive idiocy, that goes way beyond the post and makes it personal? The ban fruit doesn't hang any lower.

I only post aggressively against people who deserve it. Ciaus_dronu deserves it because he has a history of making posts like this one:
On July 14 2018 05:36 Ciaus_Dronu wrote: Guys, secret: you aren't going to get anything out of xDoublespeak. He doesn't care that he's unashamedly thrown out white supremacist nonsense. It's quite an accurate reflection of the attitudes of the GOP in politics in our very own poster. Truth, history, responsibility are all to be discarded when convenient, ignored until they become a weapon against the opponent.
This is like arguing with a fox about how best to guard the hens.
On a more general note, something that very much scares me about the political future of the west is increasing political involvement and mobilization of the right fringe. Many online communities have been cesspools in years past, but I never noticed such a strong, political presence. It feels like a newer phenomenon, and I worry about the damage it can do before society adapts.
The mods failed to action it, of course.
Regardless, ridiculing posts has always been acceptable. The personal insults are not. If people don't want me ridiculing their posts, then they have two choices: 1) post better such that I don't have the opportunity to ridicule them, or 2) stop picking fights with me. There's a reason why I get along well with many leftist posters. They aren't constantly outright dicks to me.

Don’t use the sorry ass excuse that the post was so bad it lets you post like a douchebag in response. Anyone could use that excuse for any post.
And you got dunked on because you deserved it. Post like an asshole, get treated like one.
Edit: also, you didn’t report the post. If you want a post to be looked at, you gotta report it.

Basic reading comprehension is a problem for a lot of people on this site.
I never said his post was good, only that it’s poor quality didn’t give you license to post like an asshole. And if it didn’t, you certainly could not complain when other people posted with shit quality posts on response to your.
And again, if you think a post is out of line, press the report button like the rest of us do.

I don't really disagree with this, just the divergent realities of how you make a white ethnostate without fucking over the POC that have been exploited at every turn by the same people that feel entitled to their ethnostate replacing the US.

Perhaps, but it's unlikely to transpire with supporters of the idea that it was Africans who messed up colonization and not the other way around.

I think general conversation would be improved if right wing posters didn't regularly introduce fiction as fact and then defend it as the latter.
Things do get uncivil in those circumstances, but that shouldn't really be a surprise.

TRUMP: Well, I think we have a lot of foes. I think the European Union is a foe, what they do to us in trade.
Now, you wouldn't think of the European Union, but they're a foe. Russia is a foe in certain respects. China is a foe economically, certainly. They're a foe. But that doesn't mean they're bad. It doesn't mean anything.
It means that they're competitors. They want to do well, and we want to do well. And we're starting to do well. You see what's going on. We have the best employment numbers probably that we have ever had. Black unemployment is the lowest level in history, Hispanic unemployment the lowest level in history, Jeff, women unemployment lowest in 66 years.
Our numbers are great. Our GDP numbers are far greater than what they thought.
GLOR: A lot of people might be surprised to hear you list the E.U. as a foe before China and Russia.
TRUMP: No, I look at them all.
Look, E.U. is very difficult, I want to tell you. Maybe the thing that's most difficult -- don't forget, both of my parents were born in E.U. sectors, OK? I mean, my mother was Scotland. My father was Germany.
And, you know, I love those countries. I respect the leaders of those countries.
But, in a trade sense, they have really taken advantage of us, and many of those countries are in NATO. And they weren't paying their bills. And, you know I, as an example, have a big problem with Germany, because Germany made a pipeline deal with Russia, where they're going to be paying Russia billions and billions of dollars a year for energy.
And I say that's not good. That's not fair. You're supposed to be fighting for someone, and then that someone gives billions of dollars to the one that you're guarding against?
I think it's ridiculous. So, I let that be also known this time.
And I'll tell you what. There is a lot of anger at the fact that Germany is paying Russia billions of dollars. There's a lot of anger. I also think it's a very bad thing for Germany, because it's like, what are they, waving a white flag? https://www.cbsnews.com/news/full-transcript-face-the-nation-july-15-2018/xdaunt didn't add anything or fake anything. the full quote makes it even more clear xdaunt's characterization is correct and those disagreeing with him are pushing a narrative that doesn't match the facts in question you lied about him and are continuing to do so partially in order to bash him seems to be exactly the kind of thing that is characterized as unacceptably caustic and, to quote seeker when recently thread-banning danglars, "bullshit" when 'right-wingers' but not to the same degree for everyone else the double standard is extremely obvious and always has been at TL I never said he added anything, so yes, you are correct about that, pat yourself on the back. As I have repeatedly written, xdaunt portrayed that he wrote the entirety, but xdaunt in actuality cut out parts of an available transcript, thus not showing the what a bone crushing nonsense Trump is. I normally wouldn't bother pointing that out, but adding #fakenews was just the final straw that roused me to point it out due to the sheer gall of it.
I'm pretty happy that adding #fakenews is now explicitly and essentially not tolerated, under the recognition that it is used to discredit media sources that Donald Trump dislikes.
In fact I would be happy to support officially adding a "no hashtag rule" to the US pol thread.
It'll be great if we can also not tolerate speaking like Trump doublespeak either. Everything Trump is Obama afterall.
I suppose I have JhonnyBNoho to thank for his witty use of parody. (Parody is legitimate form of political discourse and protest, before the Trumpians object.)

I only post aggressively against people who deserve it. Ciaus_dronu deserves it because he has a history of making posts like this one:Show nested quote +On July 14 2018 05:36 Ciaus_Dronu wrote: Guys, secret: you aren't going to get anything out of xDoublespeak.
They aren't constantly outright dicks to me. try posting nicely to people instead so that the thread doesn't suffer as a result

To be fair, he does qualify it somewhat but illustrating that he doesn't actually understand the word foe quite as most people do, but using some idiocy to excuse a lot of assholery is growing old real fast. Lol, "to be fair." How about instead of giving a half-assed qualification when quoting him out of context, you post the entirety of what he said? "Well, I think we have a lot of foes. I think the European Union is a foe, what they do to us in trade. Now, you wouldn't think of the European Union, but they're a foe. Russia is foe in certain respects. China is a foe economically, certainly they are a foe. But that doesn't mean they are bad. It doesn't mean anything. It means that they are competitive," Mr. Trump said at his golf club in Turnberry, Scotland.
"I respect the leaders of those countries. But, in a trade sense, they've really taken advantage of us and many of those countries are in NATO and they weren't paying their bills," he added. The statement looks quite different now in context, doesn't it? #fakenews But seriously, when you say bait, you mean dauntless throwing down for a fight? This post screams “I’m taking all comers, line up please!” You can say that it’s eye rolling that people take the bait. But arguing is fun sometimes. It’s just a problem when people whine about getting dunked on to hard after picking a fight. I attacked the post (which was atrocious), not the poster. The posts are always fair game. If someone feels stupid after I point out their post is stupid, that's on them, and perhaps they should put a little more effort into their posts. People are free to take issue with my posts. I've tried being nice. It doesn't work. I've tried appealing to the mods. That doesn't work, either. In fact, as is evidenced by their failure to even respond to me in here, they have been demonstrably useless. Plansix noted that the posts that I singled out weren't reported. My reports are ignored. In fact, back when tofu was in charge of moderating the thread, there were occasions when he had to reverse prior mods who ignored my reports. Danglars mentioned that we need a right-leaning moderator. I don't think that that is really necessary. We just need an honest and fair moderator.
