It's not that he's "simple" or "stupid," it's that it's plain to everyone who can turn off the special Trump centers of their brains for 30 seconds that, when asked about MS-13, he responds by talking about MS-13. If he said "MS-13" he'd probably get criticized for saying it when the lady already said it. "He's so stupid he has to repeat what people say to him out loud!" And it is certainly ridiculous for so many people and reporters to be presenting this as simply "Donald Trump's opinion on immigrants" without even allowing for an alternative interpretation. That's not journalism, it's advocacy. Considering that so many people don't read past the headline, it's espeically egregious. 4) he starts getting called out for being a "hypocrite" republican "with no leg to stand on," etc etc, drawn into a stupid pointless argument over whether trump is the worst human scum on the planet 5) after a gentle fact-based application of counter-spin to a shameless trump-bashing post, the people flip the script: it is now introvert who is deviously slipping his alt-right spin into the conversation; he doesnt come out and SAY that all (illegal) immigrants are animals but thats what he MEANS, because he's just an alt right trump defender and we all know that trump thinks immigrants are animals so who is triggered here? I'm pretty sure it's you. You certainly seem to think this is a way bigger deal than everyone else involved. Even, I suspect, Introvert. He got into a bit of a back-and-forth with a poster, there was a bit of a pile-on, but your consistent presentation that he was 100% correct and everyone replying to him is 100% wrong is pretty far from the truth. All a bunch of nothing, and par for the course in the politics thread for a long time.

Second, it isn’t like he came into the thread asking for clarification or couched his post saying that Trumps statements were still terrible. The post he is responding to is a bit hyperbolic, but we were also talking about separating families and putting their kids in detention facilities without access to legal counsel. The post was highlighting the administrations shitty treatment of illegal immigrants, criminal or otherwise.

You can’t just swap out for a posting population that is interested in responding on substance or ignoring the post.

Less of it, mostly. While the mods probably aren't interested in pushing any specific political agenda they will mostly ban along lines of "whose elimination from the thread will remove the most irate discussion" which necessarily singles out two groups: 1. Trolls/irrational people 2. People with highly contentious/contrary opinions relative to the norm. So obviously controversial opinions would get targeted more than average simply by virtue of that being the path of least resistance to reducing irate responses in the thread. Best way to stop that is to let things find their own balance. At least, the best of what has been tried.
