EPTTeamLiquid is a place where a lot of people come and go. We come for Starcraft II, or for Brood War, some come for poneys. So sometime you want to go to teamliquid to chat a little but you can't.
Why can't you ? Because there is a tournament going on. So your community website is a no go because you don't want to be spoiled.
The thing is, that feature existed and you could browse TL freely. Open the first page, check out the news, then look at the ABL then you go to the SC2 VODS find what you wanna watch then enjoy (or not).
The thing is, there is a difference between traditional sports content and esport's :
- Mainly watchable in the evening (20h - 22h) so it's easy to watch live
- It last only 2H top. so it's watchable in one go. (unless it's the olympics).
- Is recordable to watch later on your own media. DVD, HDD you name it.
- If you recorded it, you can watch it one day or two day later and you are ok.
For eSports the show :
- can last for 8hours, during 2 days so it's kind of impossible to watch in one go (unlless unemployed, student, hollidays and you have to be in the good timezone too).
- You can't record it, so you HAVE to go to website closing one eye to find your Vods.
It can take a week or so to catch back on a tournament because 2bo3 can take up to 3H and when you have not much time anymore like me well, it takes time.
So please, why was this destroyed from TL ? It's not like it's something hard to put in the design or to code

Simplifying
- You got one checkbox
- You got one columns in the DB for users parameters with a bool
- You got one column in the articles in the DB to say spoiler or not with a bool
- You got a condition..
If(Articles spoiler ==1 && User spoiler == 1) DO NOT PUT THAT ON THE FRONT PAGE
- Ok you have a second one on the cols to the left in ffeature news
So i can't imagine it's a coding problem (because it's kind of simple and was done already) and we all know that R1CH is really good at what he does.
Why destroy a function that a few uses but that isn't a pproblem to maintain or code or print ?
