The report function is granted to all users who are on TL for over a year and those who have purchased TL+. Users with this function are entitled to report posts that violate the rules of the TeamLiquid forum. Please read these tips for how to best make use of this feature:
- Report anything that is a direct violation of the ten commandments, that is harmful to the forums, or that violates subforum or thread specific rules. Examples include flaming, posting links to hacks, advertising, and balance whine in Live Report threads.
- Select the appropriate reason from the drop down menu when reporting. If you need to enter an explanation please make sure the reason is clear so moderators can quickly assess the situation and deal the appropriate action. Please don't just select "Other" because it lets you type something in, using one of the predefined options allows us to moderate far more efficiently.
- Don't report someone who you have a personal gripe with or whom you are currently involved in an argument with. Let a third party report them if they are indeed in violation of the rules.
- If you repeatedly submit improper reports your privilege to report posts will be taken away.
- If you have questions about reporting you can ask them here.
Remember, the report button is a not a right, but a privilege. With it you can help us make sure the forums stay clean, polite and accessible but with it comes the responsibility of not making more work for us.

I'd be curious to see a screenshot of what, exactly, moderators see when a post gets reported. Does the TL.NET bot generate a post in a special thread? Or do reports go into some sort of moderation queue where whenever a moderator looks at a report it gets marked as having been read?

Yes, but once the report system upgrade is complete you will be able to see your own stats yourself as well

Edit: should I be nervous about seeing my report stats?

Very....fascinating... Now my horrible threads will be brought back up :,(

Edit: or maybe they shadow-ban reporting for users :D

There are a few things with the new report function that I want to give some feedback for.
First the line "If you are reporting spoilers, do not include a copy of the spoiler in your reason. Just describe it, eg "unaired [tournament] spoiler"." could be removed since we don't get to write anything under the "spoiler" option.
Second, the option to rename/move/etc should have a small text filter to give a renaming suggestion. here I am mostly thinking about "Rage during LoL game, face 8 years in prison" ( http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=419471 ) where it actually was a Facebook post and that the more interesting part is that he already have been jailed for 4 months. The max punishment is seldom relevant.
|
Just a minor nitpick, but one of the options on the report menu is listed as, "Caster / player/ game bashing". It should be "Caster / player / game bashing", with an extra space between the word "player" and the forward slash.

Report function needs a "PBU" option
|
On July 01 2013 04:07 farvacola wrote:Report function needs a "PBU" option Not really. The only people who can definitively say that a particular user is a PBU are moderators, admins, and Banlings. It doesn't make much sense to allow normal users who lack the tools to detect PBUs the option to report them. The amount of false positives would make the feature too unreliable to be worth having. Besides, most PBUs give themselves away either through shitty posting or admitting in some way that they're PBUs. The former can be reported for standard shitposting, and the latter can be reported under "Other" citing their self-identification as PBUs.
Overall, a "PBU" report reason would make more work for TL staff than is necessary. Leave the PBU-hunting to the mods.

That should have been implemented. We'll have to bug R1CH after TI3

Would it be possible to make the text space for the report reason bigger than just one line? It's annoying when one presses enter out of habit and then the report gets sent before you are finished writing.

I know a few cases where I went to report something and hit enter before I finished.

The comment box went away for everything but "Other". Why?
|
Rather they took it away for all options but the ones that say (explain)

|
The best bet in cases such as you've pointed out is to PM a banling and let them know what's going down.

Could we have the report button on own posts as well? So if you accidentally posted a reply in the wrong thread, you could report your own post and hopefully someone would delete it.

Just edit your post, remove all the text, and replace it with something like "Posted in wrong thread" or whatever.

Exactly what Archas said, we don't delete posts normally anyway.

Yeah, that's what I did. It was a 4 year necro though. ^^

I think being allowed to report a mod/staff should be looked into. Calling out a single post that should probably be called out is not possible at this moment. No one is perfect, and a little ego-checking isn't a bad thing. Just a thought...

Hello.
So I recently recieved a bot message saying I had reported 25 posts and giving me a bunch of stats, which I thought was neat.
I was wondering what type of actions the "other" stat category consisted of?
Thanks.

For example if a thread is in the wrong forum, moving it
|
Does TL track how many times someone has been reported with no mod action? Or in general how many times someone has been reported?
|
I recently reported user KendricSwissh in one of his threads (either this or this one) which both are him advertising his own youtube videos. In fact this user has 130+ Posts, which primarily are him, posting either his youtube content + a one liner, sometimesless than that. I tried clicking through his entire posting history, but loading times of embedded YT videos killed my connection so I stopped. His last 10 posts are entirely "look I made another Video" with an embedded video thereafter.
Does he pay to advertise his content like this? If not, why is he allowed to continue to do so? Does the Heroes section of the forums have its own guidlines?
In the past reports of such users/threads/posts resulted in closed threads, sometimes warnings or bans. If this sort of posting is tolerated nowadays I shall adjust accordingly and stop increasing the mods workload unnecessarily.
Cheers!

Hi Mods,
I am onegu. Very nice to meet you!
Recently Koshi a very dear friend of mine was banned for 2 days from this lovely site. And while what he said was wrong and a ban worthy offense. I say that this falls under illegal search. Since it was in the mafia sub forum where we deal with our own he shouldn't be site banned for 2 days.
Since we deal with our own I believe he shoud receive the 1 game ban he has been on parole from. While this doesnt ban him from the site, it does take away playing from him from a much longer period of time.
Thank you for your consideration.

Onegu Unfortunately, no. Regardless of whether it was from the Mafia sub-forum or not, the mafia sub-forum is still under TL.net. Always has been and always will be. His comment was out of line and completely unnecessary. We do not condone such comments no matter how upset someone can be at the time. His temp ban will stay and hopefully he will know not to make such comments in the future.

yeah looks like an issue with reporting posts that have already been reported

His videos are pretty informing though to the Heroes community, I can see why he hasn't been warned yet. Especially when the Heroes forums don't get a lot of traction sadly

The reporting function seems broken for me since the website upgrade. When I try to report someone I get:
Field 'handled_by' doesn't have a default value

The liquidota forum keeps having these korean spam bots posting in the general section with brandnew accounts, why not make a time restriction on when new accounts can make a forum post (still allow new accounts to comment)
