I tried to do a search and browsed around a bit, but I didn't see these posted anywhere else, so if they are then I apologize.
This guy named Onetwo did a fantastic video tutorial series. Here are the first five parts of his level zero tutorials, but I'll also add a link to his youtube channel so you can watch the rest if you want.
I was too, and this guy is the best I've found so far. Blizzard is supposed to be releasing some howto documents in the future, but who wants to wait for that. Also, here are three other videos that just go over all the brushes and stuff for laying terrain (not the guy from above)
I would be interested in holding a map making contest at some point, but I know that most people are still getting used it. A few people have really excelled, but it wouldn't be to fair if a lot of people couldn't compete.
Might as well toss in my own contributions. First youtube series, so not the highest quality, but now that the game's out my intention is to release a second version and cover some additional topics.
Are there any good tutorials about the data editor? I can do triggering and such, and terrain is somewhat intuitive, But i've never been able to wrap my head around the data editor and the actors and such, making my other skills rather useless for custom mapmaking (creating new units and triggering animations seems rather dependant on the data editor.)
Sorry for the nub question but i made a map and when i go to play it all the minerals appear on the map as enemies and cannot be harvested from, any suggestions would really help, it's a large 1v1 broodwar style map
Haven't watched it yet, but i think it will help, thanks!
Edit: Nice, I watched it, and it's useful. There are other things It doesn't fully explain, but I think it covers the basics. Can't wait to start mappin with the data editor .
Also, if your beginning, my Simple tower defense tutorial should be helpful; it was done in beta but the concepts are there and triggers are very similar!
A new problem has arisen: i made a beautiful 1v1 map but the workers on gas glitch, they seem to enter and leave on the wrong side of the gas building, taking their time to walk around, i use 4/5 workers to mine accordingly, any suggestions here?
Exactly the kind of videos/thread I was looking for! The editor is quite daunting at first O.o but now I can actually start working on some multiplayer maps
