I thought that was a great way to motivate people. If you're Mafia, and you don't have a profile, you'll just get a clue to your username that's dead obvious if need be.

I thought that was a great way to motivate people. If you're Mafia, and you don't have a profile, you'll just get a clue to your username that's dead obvious if need be. The problem with this policy is that you are essentially punishing the whole mafia for a few members not having a profile. And because we want the clues to be consistent, the mafia have no way of knowing that it is a problem until the game has already started (and it is thus too late to change anything) because the mafia don't know who their teammates are until the game starts. Basically, I think we need to start implementing a rule that you don't make it onto the signups list unless you have a useful profile. I specify "useful" because in BC's first game, one of the cluesets was fighting. The problem was there were like 3-4 players whose sig said "XYZ Fighting!" or "XYZ Hwaiting!" and they otherwise had an empty profile. Obviously, we need to require more than that in the future if we want to continue to play games with clues.

The more material the host has for you, the easier it is to formulate a clueset. The only items in the user profile generally seen as off limits are the country because it is just too common usually and the user icon (assuming it isn't a custom staff icon) because that can change during the game without the user being able to control it. And I think this is a bit better than using previous posts on TL because that can just get ugly in the case of the forum veterans who have thousands of posts (this was Chuiu's solution in Mafia I - his Quesadilla clueset was based on some strongman posts Quesadilla made elsewhere on the site).

I would also say, that to make that clue set even more terrible, They were two inactive players in the end so it was next to impossible to catch them (alot of people didnt post). My current games clueset wasn't as farfetched as my previous games, at least in my head .

As for not fleshing out the profile more, I'm guilty of this, but I honestly only thought that I mustn't change my profile while the game is running. I wasn't active enough anyway. Is there going to be another game at some point in the near future?

The mafia didn't have anyone who had played more than one or two games before. Also, the town managed to elect a DT who promptly formed a DT circle. Not a good combination.
