Lets go! awesome event
|
Wait, this already starts tomorrow?
Cheering for Serral as always. Hope Skillous, Showtime and Heromarine will also have good runs.
|
Do KRs usually attend these?
Wow cool to see Stephano playing. I hope Skillous, Astrea, trigger do well.

Yes. Not this one though because:

Cloud9 already booked GuMiHo' flight and due to recently announced IEM Katowice qualifiers he cancelled.
Solar was sitting this one out after his GSL win. I assume to rest/focus on Atlanta.
Cure wanted to focus on Atlanta.
ByuN declined since the timeline of this event conflicts with private stuff.
Classic declined his invite.
Since I was looking for a top terran (dont even have to ask Maru unfortunately) I would say I was out of luck. I could have considered Bunny for example but then WE get into the range of "which player also brings value" since we have less Budget than usual for this and flying in someone from KR means I can probably support 1.5-2 less players from EU.
So it wasnt even particularly about the money this time

Astrea has a good chance of getting through. Scarlett and trigger vs HeroMarine on equal ping, not holding my breath ...
|
Beginning with a Serral match, hell yeah.
|
The matches are really bad somehow. Maybe I expected more and I didnt watch any sc2 for some time but oof.

Trigger has taken some big scalps against Terran (mainly online granted) and Scarlett occasionally shows up strong. I don't think it's impossible, though Gabe and Reynor are heavily favored in that group.

Thats what happen when you have a 24 players tournament but around half of them arent expected to be doing anything meaningful imo. The prize distribution also reflect that, when only top 12 are making money, with the rest enjoy a free trip to HSC with food and drink.
But to be fair, some of the PvZ have been pretty good to watch.

Both of them have the ability to beat the very best players atm. The problem is wherever they can do so with enough consistency. For one series trigger wins against ByuN, Scarlett might lose against Gerald, and vice-versa.
In comparison while HeroMarine does have a dip in form this season, I'll still favour him on the back of him being more reliable on average.

Whoa, if Reynor and Scarlett end up winning group D, then I have my favourite players making it through in each group. So glad Harstem made it, I was sure Elazer would take that spot.
|
Siiiiiiiiick game 1 of Heromarine vs Scarlett.
|
Reynor protoss is so zergy, that's quite refreshing to see
|
|
Wow watching Reynor's Protoss is really cool, guess Protoss really might be ok and he is just an incredible player
Also, CYCLONES hahaha Seriously though, it would be nice if we can find a way to make Cyclones slightly better at TvP mech rather than TvZ mech
|
Reynor 2:0'ing Scarlett with his offrace Protoss is wild, especially considering these were fairly long and standard games. Reynor's playstyle with Protoss is really cool and zergish, though: very active, looking for map control, rapidly expanding, and frequently using multi-pronged attacks and flanks.
HeroMarine's mass cyclone/mech strategy against Scarlett was neat to watch as well.

My god, the top half of the bracket is going to be a ZvZ slaughterfest. Bottom looks like Clem should ez breezy his way to the finals.
