Maru can definitely beat Solar and Dark; at this point, I would love to see Trap win, but his PvZ is so absymal...
Are you implying you just want a specific player to lose?
No, I am implying I wanted a specific player to win(Cure). Now that he's out, I would be glad to see Trap triumphant but his current PvZ seems terrible.
Dark winning two consecutive Super Tournaments would be boring imho, I wouldn't mind a Maru victory If I wouldn't have to witness 20 pages of comments about how godlike he is.
Being the only reason Terran exists at the pro level for 2.5 years does that.
A perfect example of what I meant! Maru has been by far the best Terran in the last two years but you can't forget Inno winning WESG, TY's finals in Code S(stopped by Maru) and Super Tournament, Gumiho's final in Super Tournament.
The fact that you can only come up with 4 good Terran results for a 30 month period just shows I'm right.
Haha, exactly, a perfect example how to shoot yourself in the foot. Xain0n's special And mentioning WESG is just super pathetic. In that case, lets count foreign land tournaments as well, how are Terrans doing there?
Your elitism is super pathetic.
2018 would have been a good year for Protoss if Serral and Maru didn't beat them repeatedly and 2019 was just the most Zerg infested year in the history of Sc2(with one month of Protoss doing decently leading to open revolt just to made them nerfed to nothingness); still, Terran won more than Protoss. Maru is responsible for the majority of those titles, you can't expect many more names but there are, just as I showed you.
Thinking that Maru is the ONLY one who made Terran competitive at pro level is a stretch to say the least; that idea perfectly fits the narrative of Maru as the Favored Child(partly reasonable) and Terran as the neglected, unplayable race that only gods can lead to victory(mostly delusion) so many on this forum are very fond of.
What is true is that Maru is incredibly skilled and one of the best Terran ever and that Terran has been the weakest, still perfectly competitive, race most of the times since 2018.
Without counting wcs (because it doesn't allow the actual best terrans/players), in 24 premier tournaments terran players made the ro4 10 times (5 times maru), 2nd place 4 times (no maru) and 1st place 7 times (5 times maru). This includes GPC season 1 (which shouldn't be counted tbh) and IEM pyongchang (probably neither), Without these it's ro4 5/8 maru and 5/6 1st places in 22 tournaments. Pls tell me more about this competitive race
If I counted correctly, in the same timespan(excluding WCS) Protoss made the ro4 18 times, 2nd place 13 times and 1st place 4 times. Better than Terran, even if less clutch, and less dependant from a single player(Maru); if Terran hasn't been competitive, Protoss has not been much better. If you want an example of non competitive race at pro level, take a look at 2007-2015 Undead in Warcraft 3.

Some men, just want to watch the world burn.
BTW. EXTREMELY small chance Solar beats Maru. Nowhere near the caliber Zerg that Maru should lose to. That said, that lack of quality might be exactly why Maru loses. He is a Prime Terran after all. We'll see.
Dunno Solar handled Cure pretty well, so there's a chance.
Plus Maru is still 0-15 in reaching the final of Korean weekenders
Maru being 18-4 (82%) in matches against Solar is probably one of the most one sided 1v1 stats in top level sc2.
Also, this isn't a weekender other than the ro4/finals being on the same day (plus most starleague formats have bo7 ro4). So expect Maru to crush Solar with some good preperation then lose the final

Well that is significantly better though, especially because terran is that reliant on a single player. Zerg obviously is even better and won a whole lot more. I have no experience with wc3, and i don't deny that it could be even worse, but it's already pretty bad if you look at high place finishes and how many unique players actually were able to do anything. Carried hard by a single player.

Although Maru carried terran very hard especially in 2018, protoss players won more money than terran despite no star player winning tournaments as hard as Maru/Serral. So yes I would call that much better, because even with Maru they won more (and a relatively significant amount), imagine if you coun't Maru out...

You cannot because then all the 'terran whining' would be super-justified and that's a thing Blizzard don't need right now. I believe they have a shrine for MAru's health

This is semantics though, yeah he wasn't literally the only terran who got to a ro4 or better. TY and Inno also had some success, but it pales in comparison to the best players of other races. If we want to call that competitive is the question, if one removes maru it looks pretty bad even if it's not wc3 lvl bad (though i simply do not know) If we'd include wcs it would look even worse, i think it is fair to say that terran has the hardest time on the pro lvl by a significant margin. Do terrans whine a lot? Sure, but it almost looks like there is a reason for it.
