Hi, wanted a new thread on How to beat my lil bro with my Pikachu. He Has yet to lose a game with a variety of characters, I am always Pikachu. I came so close to winning... But I Lost.
And I'm an adult, I don't have hours to study fucking Smash 64! Sorry, surely there's a "trick" that would beat a gosu 64 player with pika??? Plz?!
I have trouble with throws.
He has a good Sense for stopping my lightest-A attack repetition with a counter.
I haven't mastered doubling-up his second jump.
His down-b is useless?
His main smash forward and A, seems mostly Bad. Sure you need it.
His throw is good, but I don't have the trick of throwing my opponent the direction I like!
I like sector Z. This is an ok map?
Still, I like pika, I liked chun-li in SFII, and I heard he's tier-S.
Any help of any kind would be appreciated.
Not expecting any replies, if it was Melee I would win, but he trained 64 quite a bit...
Please PM if you reply, if you do, because I'M not expecting any replies.
Peace.

Well Pikachu is the best character in the game, but if you're still new to the character and the general controls and advanced techniques (DI, Z-cancel, etc.), it's not really going to matter who you pick. Pika, Kirby, and Falcon are considered the best characters, and I strongly recommend watching some YouTube videos of Smash 64 players/ tutorials. And then practice. A lot.
To address a few of your questions: 1. Pikachu's double up-B typically requires movement in two different directions (unless you're really, really good), so consider practicing it by pushing up and then right/ left (or diagonal) and then refining the movement once you consistently can do two of the agility zips. 2. Down-B (thunder) usually isn't a safe attack unless your opponent is flying way above you in the air, since you can't move during the attack. 3. Forward-smash is great for edgeguarding, especially if you want to stay on the ground and not risk messing up an aerial. 4. Throwing backwards typically does a bit more damage/ throws further than forward throw. 5. Sector Z is fun, but the only standard level that's considered acceptable/ neutral in competitive play is Dream Land. That being said, if it's just a game between you and your brother, feel free to play wherever you want!

What level of skill are you at? The issues you're describing aren't really Pikachu-specific but seem to be more general skill issues. Pikachu is insane. Go watch some pro matchups and see if you understand how to do the basics of their combos. A lot of it is juggling with hitboxes and z-canceling. Pikachu is definitely one of the strongest ssb64 champs so if you're having trouble against a player who's playing pretty much every champ I'm guessing he's just waaaaaaaaay better at the game than you.
Edit: And to address your "I'm an adult and just want to know the secret" thing, no, if you're below a certain skill level and he is above it he will beat you every single game with every single champ, kinda like in chess or SC. It sounds like that's the case.

Just type "Isai smash bros 64 pikachu" into youtube and enjoy the show.

@Plasmasball, ZERG_RUSSIA, & Nemireck^
thank you all for the advice... Yes I will watch some video, finally took a game tonight of bro! @Nemireck I will google that now just because you took the time.
My thinking:
The forward smash can be useful at it's extreme horizontal limit, moreso than just as a smash.
I've mastered the double up-b, thank you @DarkPlasmaBall for that, your post was cool, will have to revisit it.
Yeah, thx ya'll, I'll keep an occasional update as I study!
MORE QUESTIONS:
Watching the Isai smash bros 64 pikachu video now... Now I see some of the proper gamestyle! Thank you, sir. So:
1. Is Kirby's level hard for pika? I don't like it, I like sector Z better.
2. Any more general Pika advice from ya'll?
3. Any more advice on general smash64?

Glad to help!
1. Competitively, Dreamland isn't considered tough for Pikachu because Pikachu is favored in all/most match-ups, and his up-b lets him escape and recover so well (especially to platforms) if he's in a bind. The reason why Dreamland is preferred in competitive play is because it's the most neutral map and has the fewest random distractions/ map attackers (e.g., Hyrule tornado, Sector Z arwing).
2. Watch top tier Pikachus and look at how they combo their moves and how they escape/ recover. Repeated up-tilts and jab-grabs are great neutral options, and since his recover is so great you should get used to trying to hit your opponent once or twice more once they're off the stage to ensure they can't recover (you can chase them off the stage with additional aerial moves and still recover).
3. Make sure you're having fun! Also, videos of any top tier players with good movement and technique can give you additional insight into the potential for Pikachu or other characters. Watch videos of Isai, Superboomfan, Wario, Wangera, KeroKeroppi, Stranded, Fireblaster, Prince, Firo, and others. Learn how to counter the characters and combos your brother likes to use.

Peace. I know this is kinda late but as a competitive smash player I think I can help you out a little bit.
Pikachu is the best character in the game. By quite a bit. If you want to look up some top pikachu players, some are Isai, SuperBoomFan, and Alvin.
There's banned stages in Smash 64. Dreamland is the only non-banned one, but it's a good stage for pikachu.
I haven't seen anyone use his Down-b or forward smash often. And if you want to do throws, just press either forward or backwards. Up or down throws didnt appear until melee.
