It is. It's also the reason why JD gets underestimated here I think (coupled with his bo1 losses in Proleague). JD is simply not a good bo1 gamer, he always needs 1 warmup game which he most likely loses.
I think Savior in his prime also wasn't that great in proleague but was very good at the starleagues and won pretty much every bo5. But then again I've never been following the PL much.

It's his way of saying: 'I don't actually need the first game. You can have it. I'll just rape you the next three times.'
I'm definitely happy. I thought JD had lost his zvt after the two bo3 flash series...
It's his way of being good-mannered. He thinks it would be too harsh for his opponents if he just crushed them 3-0 every single time. :p So he gives them this advantage.
And his losses in proleague are just a clever disguise, to make the others think "JD sucks right now, this'll be easy" and then they get raped.

actually savior was unbeatable in proleague in his prime.. the problem was that CJ had the worst 2v2 of any other pro team, so they could never make it to the ace match and would always lose in the playoffs to teams with good 2v2s like MBC but then again, JD was really unbeatable in PL not too long ago as well
I'm thoroughly convinced now that JD purposely looks confused and incompetent in the first set of bo5s just to give his opponents a false sense of security and make them change their game plans.
Wow. With the maps, trends and his current form stacked against him JD manages to pull this off. Is he the best 0-1 player ever or what? Though I'm still not sure he can beat forgg or flash in his current form. Still... What makes a champ is their ability to win on shitty maps against their top tier race killers and JD definitely can do that.
