As people have said, another reason why people hate Mind, apart from being Ugly Nerd, is because he adds fuel to the fire of all those people frustrated with the Terran race for repeatedly beating more innovative players with completely standard and boring play. A lot of people have been disillusioned with Terrans for ages, and Mind is just the prime example for it. Personally I expect my bw players to be nerdy looking. They play a computer game for a living. If you don't like Mind's play, then fine. But for christ sake, shut up about him being an "ugly nerd" in every post.

Funny enough, I like FBH, and don't really mind Stork. I guess different players push our buttons....
And I'm going to keep calling Mind however I want, thanks very much. Fine, I'm going to say something good about him, true to "always look on the bright side": at least Nada's happy when he wins, and it's good for the battered WeMade. I can only assume he's of enormous help to both the reputation and the team spirit of WeMade.
Edit: I'm also looking at it from a Korean perspective, where looking good is generally far, far more important than in the West and looking bad and nerdy as a TV personality is pretty unacceptable. A player's looks are just as important as his skills for his popularity, and charisma tends to end up being the tie-breaker.

I am not coming up with this opinion from statistics, but from watching the games.. the kid is really good imo. Although I may throw around the term "TvZ God", too loosely for some people as I could probably name 4-5 Terrans that qualify for that. And yea Hwasin/Iris are TvZ gods as well if you were to ask me.

What impresses me most about Mind is he always makes the correct decesions. He may not always execute them very well, but hes always playing with the right idea in mind. And it gets him wins.

People overrate his win against Savior last MSL. Savior played far from his best those games, and the same can be said about Bisu in the final. He pulled a GoodFriend, basically beating better players because they underperformed. That being said, he is of course a solid player especially at TvP but not top 10 material. He might become top 10 in the upcoming year though since he's still young.

But I thought this was a bw site. Perhaps you could go to the mall if you want to talk about shoes, hairstyles and, "looking cute"? I'd rather not deal with it when discussing brood war.

Beating Savior no longer proves nearly as much as it used to. FBH, too, beat Savior in a BO5, and that was back when Savior was in a better form than he is now. Savior's arrogant attitude against unproven players (and sometimes even plain bad ones like PJ) has been hindering him more and more in recent history. Jaedong won't make that mistake when he meets Mind, and when they do, that will be when this, um, unfortunate-looking man's TvZ will finally be really tested.
I liked what I saw of Hogil today, but he's no Jaedong yet. Hopefully he can improve his play to his full potential. Also props to Zero for the innovative build, it would be great to see more of him in PL.

Who cares. Mind and even better Sea won. People try to bitch about every player who's in the spotlight. There were countless of posts how boring oov's style is and how lame savior was for doing the same shit each and every time. And usualy as soon as a good player starts to fall people magicaly start to care about him.
The problem with mind here is that he succesfully beat all great names allready. The only one that's left is stork. And with his timing sense i don't see him loosing this. You can flip it day in day out how you wan't only time will tell how good he is, that's the problem with his career.
All i see here is he won. And that's all that matters for now.

Mind appears to be having more antis than just about any other Starleague winner before him - if not here on TL, then definitely here in Korea. Nobody cheers when he comes on the stage or wins, on forums and chats people are cheering for him to lose and I have yet to meet a Mind fan in person. You had your share of Savior-antis, of Nada-antis, Bisu-antis, oov-antis and you had especially many random-out-of-nowhere-Starleague-winning-dudes-antis, but I don't ever remember it being like this.
Obviously, there has to be reasons for this.

Obviously, there has to be reasons for this. Yes and the reason is: Hes a completely unknown player who beat 3 other HUGE STARS in order to win a starleague right off the bat. On top of that, he did it with flawless standard play. Which doesn't add to excitement. Oh and the third reason.. a lot of people are faggits and care more about hair/fashion than brood war skills.
However, if mind wins another starleague you can gurantee his fanbase will grow by leaps and bounds.

hes just not very cool.
the wins were not flashy.
i have to admit, i very much disliked mind after he won the msl. i am a savior fan, however, i watched more of him in the proleague and i think he is the real deal. i would not be surprised if he made another run here.

Thanks Mind, thanks so much for losing to Pause Zerg and losing me a liquibet point. -.-

Sea will live to choke another MSL.

wow I'm pretty proud of my write up.

Should have gone with my initial gut and had hogil winning game 1

The first game between mind and hogil was a tossup. Both had similar TvZ records, and Katrina is a balanced TvZ map. Nevertheless, it was heartbreaking to lose that Liquibet point .

Pretty much expected, Sea with a nice comeback, solid from Mind after game 1, both looking like contentders.
