How do I adapt what you did to someone who didnt mirror you with a fast third? i.e two base roach bust and so on. Not take third, spine up and counter attack? Violet's build goes up to teh point of putting down 2 evos after the safety baneling nest (for defense). A fast 3rd is not part of his build. Simply put, the violet opening is just very safe and sets you up to either go double mellee upgrades or roach upgrades, depending on how you want to play it into the midgame. It is very viable. I believe it is the most standard zvz opening to date.

I have actually lived near Kangaroos. My Border Collie couldn't catch up. If he did he'd be killed anyway.
