On the 2nd at the Hero Loox center, Hwaseung defeated CJ to qualify for the finals.
Hwaseung’s coach Jo Jung Ook commented, “Because we’ve felt the pain of losing in the finals before, this time we will definitely win”, and continued “by practicing our hardest, I’ll focus on making sure our players show their full abilities”, revealing his thoughts on the finals.
The following is the interview with Coach Jo Jung Ook.
- It’s been 2 years since the last time you’ve been on the grand finals stage.
▲ Because it’s been 2 years since we’ve last stepped on that stage, the feeling is different. Having felt the pain of loss the first time we reached Gwanganri, this time we will prepare harder and show great results.
- It was close with CJ, reaching the super ace match.
▲ After we returned from vacation and began practicing, I thought it wouldn’t be possible to digest the maps for day 1 and 2 completely. Thankfully,

- You’re facing SK Telecom in the finals – how would you assess them?
▲ SK Telecom is especially strong at Gwanganri, and they are a team that achieved the prestigious over-triple-crown. I'm sure both our team and SK Telecom believe this upcoming match holds great meaning. With the chemistry between T1’s coaching staff and players as well as their rich amount of ace players, I don’t believe they will be an easy team to beat at all.
- How do you plan on preparing for your match against SK Telecom?
▲ I will analyze individual players’ abilities and based on the records of each map, I will choose which players to send out. Just as we showed sniping of players on Day 1, once the roster entries are revealed, I’ll work hard so that the selected players will be able to optimally display their full abilities.
- Besides Jaedong, it seems the other players are in a slump.
▲ It’s something that’s been worrying me for a while. Yesterday the newer players did well so I thought the players who have been on losing streaks would work even harder but disappointingly, they lost. I believe each of these players will have a better understanding of this situation than I do, and I believe they will step up to show better performances in the next match. In the remaining time, I hope we can practice hard so that we can wage a proper battle and pull out all our hidden cards as well.

Q: How do you feel after winning the final ace match?
A: I had already thought a great deal about the final ace match when I arrived at the stadium today. Even if I won today, the team could still lose, so I thought a lot about the game on Neo Medusa and planned it out in my head. It's a relief that we won today, and I won't let my guard down until I can win with a smile on my face at Gwanganri!
Q: You lost your first game against
![Zerg (Z)](https://tl.net/tlpd/images/Zicon_small.png)
A: Not so. When I was preparing, I was confident about both games. Orion was able to exploit something I hadn't thought of at all during our mind games. Even as I was playing, I thought that I had lost the mind games completely. So I immediately started thinking about my next game, and practiced my micro without much pressure. I thought there was a high chance the next game would be a Zerg vs Zerg.
Q: Were you sure that
![Zerg (Z)](https://tl.net/tlpd/images/Zicon_small.png)
A: Although there was a chance I might play against Terran, I was over 80% sure that EffOrt would be my opponent.
Q: How did you feel when it was confirmed that EffOrt was your opponent?
A: I felt really good. I had already beaten him yesterday, and I had warmed up well during my game against Orion by practicing mutalisk micro. After the game on Neo Medusa started, I though the situation was excellent for me, and I felt that if I could win here, I would really have achieved something. I was calm, and I played the game to enjoy it.
Q: You are now ranked #1 in post season wins.
A: Well, I'm tied for first, but I have some more opportunities ahead so I think it's very possible that I'll be alone at the top. Having this kind of record makes me quite proud, and I'd like to later hold a record that no one can challenge.
Q: Any final words?
A: So many players helped me practice.
