Zerg Race, "Satisfied that Zerg is not the weakest race"

- You defeated a team of 4 dragons.
▲ Savior = Honestly I didn’t expect much coming here but I’m very happy I got two wins (laughs). Next week I have a Winners League Final match so I believe that this match experience will be of help for that.
▲ July = I’m happy we won. Though it was very tight at 4:3, we still won and I’m just satisfied at the fact that zerg is not the weakest race.
▲ Luxury = Although I didn’t even win one game, because I was able to watch games of zerg players better than me and learn a lot, I am happy.
▲ Yarnc = I think I just learned a lot.
- Your feelings on winning the Ace match?
▲ Savior = Like I said earlier, I honestly didn’t expect much (laughs). For Tau Cross, I talked to Luxury and Yarnc right before the game and decided on the 9 drone build. Truthfully I worried more about the 6th set on Return of the King. Because I wasn’t sure how the map looked my timing for the 7 o clock multi was a lot later than I expected. However, by doing this and that, I think I was able to win.
- As the start off player, you had 2 wins and consequently lead the zerg team over protoss.
▲ July = I thought I would win more games today than in the last match against terran; I regret how the 3rd set played out. I liked the 2nd set the most, and in the 3rd set I didn’t think I made that many mistakes but because I misplaced a hatchery, units kept having to go around so I struggled during battles.
- After 2 kills you lost to Stork… do you feel bad about not being able to get 3 kills?
▲ July = I was still able to get 2 kills so I’m still satisfied.
- In this all star race battle, you guys didn’t get to win any games.
▲ Luxury = I’ve been very busy. If I weren’t as busy, I feel as though I would have been able to secure at least one win. I’m very regretful.
▲ Yarnc = I think it’s because I came out here having not played much since I was on break. Though the other players also didn’t prepare much, I think I prepared the least.
- While playing Stork, it seemed your mineral mining strategy was a bit late.
▲ Yarnc = I used the same strategy as GGplay and used 5 drones but strangely afterwards, only 1 drone was mining. Then I just lost my timing.
▲ Savior = I also think it was a bug. The overlord’s field of vision was there so I think it really was a bug.
- For the first time, you have 2 straight wins against Bisu.
▲ Savior = Whether it’s Bisu or me, as progamers it’s not like we are just going to play a few days and quit. If a player methodically keeps practicing then one day, chances are, things will turn around. Also, currently I am behind in our head to heads and I don’t really consume myself with thoughts of catching up – I’m not the type to focus solely on wins/losses.
- What are your plans until the 4th round opening game?
▲ Savior = Currently our team is in the Winners League finals, and once the finals end there’s the Survivor preliminary matches that most players participate in so I think I will participate as well. It’s still undecided for now but I hope that the players who don’t participate in the preliminary matches before the 4th, 5th round will be able to rest at least for a couple of days and have time to reorganize themselves.
▲ July = Our team’s long break just ended and yesterday we returned to prepare for the 4th round. Everyone is putting everything on the line as they practice for the 4th and 5th rounds. The approaching pro league 4th and 5th round is really exciting – I’m really looking forward to it. Although we regretfully dropped out of the Winners League post season, I am definitely trying my absolute hardest to go far in the pro league.
▲ Luxury = Up until now, our team has had no chance to take a break so I think we will go on a vacation. After the break, I plan on earnestly preparing for the 4th round.
▲ Yarnc = Our team also just ended break yesterday and began practicing again. Because the survivor preliminary matches are also coming up, I’m helping with those, and also preparing for the 4th and 5th rounds.
- What do you guys personally think of the zerg race?
▲ Savior = I don’t really have much interest. I don’t care whether terran is “imba” and actually I haven’t really thought about the different races that in depth before. For me, because I play zerg, I just practice hard with zerg, and that’s it. I think the fans watching and enjoying my plays is completely separate from what I think of zerg.
▲ July = I don’t really think it’s that great of a race, but I’m in the process of changing my mindset so that I view it better.
▲ Luxury = I just see it as a profound race. If you understand it then it’s a very strong race but if you don’t fully understand it like me it becomes a weaker race.
▲ Yarnc = I just think it’s a simple race. I don’t especially like it or dislike it.
- If there is anything special you want to say…
▲ Savior = I think seeing players from different teams on tv and playing together with them is very different. Experiencing playing together as a team, I’m happy that I can pay deeper attention to their play, and I also liked being able to discuss various strategies with them.
▲ July = I would like it if there were more events like this in the future. I wish they would raise the prize 10x so that I could fully practice and participate. I think the discussion in this race match was also great.
▲ Luxury = I don’t have much to say having appeared twice with no victories.
▲ Yarnc = If the prize were higher I would have probably returned from break but the prize was small so I spent my break not practicing and came out.

- ‘육룡’ 가운데 네 명이 포함된 프로토스를 꺾었는데
▲ 마재윤=사실 별 기대를 하지 않고 왔는데 2승이나 기록해서 좋다(웃음). 다음주에 위너스 리그 결승전도 있는데 그 전에 경기 감각을 경험했다는 점이 도움이 되는 것 같다.
▲ 박성준=이겨서 기쁘다. 4:3으로 접전이 펼쳐지긴 했지만 이겼고 어쨌든 저그가 가장 약한 종족이 아니라는 사실에 만족한다.
▲ 박찬수=나는 한 명도 못 이겼지만 나보다 더 잘하는 저그 선수들의 경기를 보고 많이 배워서 좋다.
▲ 박명수=그냥 많이 배우고 가는 것 같다.
- 에이스결정전 승리로 경기를 마무리한 소감은
▲ 마재윤=앞서 말한 것처럼 사실 별 기대를 하지 않았다(웃음). 타우크로스는 현장에서 (박)찬수와 (박)명수에게 물어보고 9드론 빌드를 정했다. 사실 걱정한 것은 6세트 왕의귀환이었다. 맵이 어떻게 생긴지 몰라서 7시 멀티를 발견한 타이밍이 생각 같지 않게 늦었다. 그렇지만 어찌어찌 이긴 것 같다.
- 선봉으로 출전해 2킬을 기록하며 팀 승리를 이끌었는데
▲ 박성준=오늘은 지난번 테란전보다 더 많이 이길 줄 알았는데 3세트가 너무 아쉽다. 2세트 경기가 가장 괜찮았고, 3세트는 그렇게 실수를 하지 않은 것 같은데 해처리를 잘못 지으면서 유닛이 계속 돌아 나와서 전투를 힘들게 했다.
- 2킬 이후 송병구에게 패해서 3킬 실패가 아쉽진 않은지
▲ 박성준=그래도 2킬을 기록했기 때문에 만족한다.
- 종족 최강전에서 아쉽게 승리를 기록하지 못했는데
▲ 박찬수=일정이 많이 바빴다. 바쁘지만 않았다면 1승 이상은 기록했을 것 같다. 많이 아쉽다.
▲ 박명수=휴가라서 게임을 안 한 상태로 출전해서 그런 것 같다. 다른 선수들도 준비를 많이 안 했겠지만 나는 준비가 더 안되어 있었다.
- 송병구 상대로 미네랄 뚫기 전략의 타이밍이 조금 늦는 것 같았다
▲ 박명수=김준영 선수와 같은 전략을 시도했고 드론 5기를 모두 붙였는데 이상하게 그 다음부터는 드론 1기만 미네랄을 캐더라. 그러면서 타이밍이 늦어졌다.
▲ 마재윤=내가 보기에도 버그인 것 같다. 오버로드로 시야도 밝힌 상태인데 아무래도 버그 같았다.
- 김택용을 상대로 처음으로 2연승을 거뒀는데
▲ 마재윤=(김)택용이나 나나 프로게이머 하루 이틀 하고 그만 둘 것도 아니기 때문이다. 차근차근 이렇게 승수를 좁히다 보면 언젠가는 뒤집을 것이라고 생각한다. 그리고 지금은 내가 상대전적에서 뒤지고 있기 때문에 쫓아가야겠다는 생각도 없고 승패는 개의치 않는 편이다.
- 4라운드 개막전까지 계획은 어떻게 되는지
▲ 마재윤=우리 팀은 일단 위너스 리그 결승전에 대비하고 있고, 결승전이 끝나면 서바이버 예선전에 참가하는 선수들이 대부분이라 예선전을 할 것 같다. 아직 미정인데 예선전이 없는 선수들은 4, 5라운드를 위해서 며칠이라도 쉬면서 재정비할 시간을 가졌으면 좋겠다.
▲ 박성준=우리 팀은 이제 긴 휴가가 끝나고 어제 복귀해서 4라운드 준비에 들어갔다. 모두들 4, 5라운드에 모든 것을 걸고 열심히 하려고 준비하고 있다. 다가올 프로리그 4, 5라운드가 너무 기대된다. 위너스 리그 포스트시즌 아깝게 떨어졌지만 반드시 광안리에 갈 수 있도록 최선을 다하고 있다.
▲ 박찬수=우리 팀은 그 동안 못 쉬어서 며칠간 휴가를 다녀올 것 같다. 휴가 이후부터는 본격적인 4라운드 준비에 들어갈 예정이다.
▲ 박명수=우리 팀도 어제 부로 휴가 끝나고 오늘부터 연습에 돌입했다. 곧 서바이버 예선전도 있기 때문에 예선전 연습도 도와주고 4, 5라운드 준비도 시작했다.
- 본인들이 생각하는 저그는 어떤 종족인지
▲ 마재윤=난 별 관심이 없다. 테란이 사기인지도 관심이 없고 딱히 종족이 어떻다고 생각해본 적이 없다. 그냥 내가 저그를 하기 때문에 저그로 열심히 하는 것뿐이다. 팬 여러분들이 내 플레이를 보고 좋아해주시는 것과 내가 저그에 대해서 생각하는 의견은 별개라고 생각한다.
▲ 박성준=나는 별로 좋은 종족이라고 생각하진 않는데, 생각 자체를 좋다고 생각하면서 마인드를 바꾸고 있다.
▲ 박찬수=그냥 심오한 종족이다. 저그를 이해하면 정말 강한데 나처럼 이해하지 못하면 약한 종족이 되고 만다.
▲ 박명수=그냥 무난한 종족 같다. 특별히 좋지도 않고 나쁘지도 않은 종족이다.
- 특별히 하고 싶은 말이 있다면
▲ 마재윤=다른 팀 선수일 때 TV를 통해 볼 때와 이렇게 같은 팀으로 만나는 것은 굉장히 다른 것 같다. 현장에서 같은 팀원으로 만나보니까 다른 선수들의 플레이를 보다 주의 깊게 볼 수 있어서 좋았고, 전략이나 정보 같은 것들을 공유할 수 있어서 좋은 기회였다.
▲ 박성준=앞으로 이런 이벤트전을 자주 했으면 좋겠다. 상금을 열 배 정도로 올려서 연습도 충실히 하고 출전하고 싶다. 스킨스 매치 방식의 대회도 좋은 것 같다.
▲ 박찬수=두 번이나 출전했는데 1승도 못해서 별로 할 말이 없다.
▲ 박명수=상금이 높았으면 휴가를 반납 했을 텐데 상금이 낮아서 휴가도 보내고 그냥 연습 없이 출전했다.

Interview with the Losers
Protoss Race, "We don't want to lose to the Terran"

▶“Revolutionist” Bisu
- I didn’t practice enough for this so I regretfully lost. I was hoping Stork would complete an all kill… I don’t feel so good because I feel like I showed bad gameplay tonight (laughs). Today Savior played so well. His counterattacks in the games were good and his reactions were fast. I really felt that zerg was strong again tonight. The next opportunity I get I will show better abilities.
The next match is with terran and there isn’t anyone specific that I want to play against. Though there isn’t a specific individual player, because this is a pride war against terran, I definitely don’t want to lose. Today Stork showed strong play, and because we’re all good players I believe if we just play our respective games well, we will win. Today we showed the protoss playing together; next time we will practice more and show amazing gameplay.
▶“Monster” Best
- Although we lost today, because I was able to play together with players from other teams, I had a lot of fun. Though I lost today, I definitely learned a lot. In the match against terran, I want to show a strong performance. In the terran match, the startoff game is Flash vs. Stork. If Stork hyung loses, I would like Flash to pick me. I want to have fun.
▶“Commander-in-chief” Stork
- By luck I was able to get 3 kills. Before me, Best and Jangbi had to play on maps that were hard for protoss. So on the whole for me, I played on maps that weren’t as bad for protoss. But still, I regret that I wasn’t able to perform an all-kill. Even in Savior hyung’s game against Bisu, his defense against sair/reaver was amazing. I was too thrown off by his drops, and because there was a setback in observers I feel like I lost the game.
In the terran match I am starting off against Flash; it feels like it’s been such a long time since I’ve played him. Though I actually practice with him a lot, I lose to him much more. Also, lately, I feel like zerg play is easier (laughs). I think the maps will be important. I will try to prepare diverse plays.
▶“Almighty” Jangbi
- I really wanted to get revenge on Luxury so it sucks that I couldn’t. Today I didn’t see any other zerg but Luxury so I really regret losing to July. However, because today 4 protoss got together and played together, I had a lot of fun. I even got to discuss strategies openly a bit. The strategy I used today was one Bisu told me about, though I ended up losing (laughs).
Although I want to play every player in the terran match, I especially want to play Flash. However, I will cheer for my teammate Stork hyung. Recently I lost in the finals but I want to tell the fans not to worry about me. That night I along with Stork and my other teammates drank alcohol and let it out. It really seems like when one is depressed, alcohol is the best answer (laughs).

▶ '혁명가' 김택용
연습을 많이 못해서 너무 아쉽게 패배한 것 같다. (송)병구 형이 올킬을 해주기를 바랐는데 너무 안 좋은 경기력을 보여드린 것 같아서 마음이 좋지 않다(웃음). 오늘 (마)재윤이 형의 경기력이 너무 좋았다. 견제에 대한 대응도 좋았고 반응도 빨랐다. 다시 한번 저그가 강하다는 사실을 느꼈다. 다음 기회에는 더 좋은 실력을 보여드리겠다.
다음 경기는 테란과의 대결인데 붙고 싶은 선수는 딱히 없다. 꼭 붙고 싶은 선수는 없지만 테란과 자존심을 건 싸움이기 때문에 지고 싶지 않다. 오늘 (송)병구 형이 든든한 활약을 해줬고, 다들 잘하기 때문에 다음 경기에서 각자 역할만 잘 해준다면 이길 수 있을 것이라고 믿는다. 오늘 프로토스 선수들의 단합된 모습을 보여줬으니, 다음에는 연습을 더 많이해서 뛰어난 경기력을 보여드릴 수 있도록 하겠다.
▶ '괴수' 도재욱
오늘 패배하기는 했지만 다른 팀 선수들과 한 팀이 되어서 경기를 해봤기 때문에 정말 재미있었다. 오늘 졌지만 정말 많은 정보를 얻어간다. 테란과의 대결에서는 강한 모습을 보여드리고 싶다. 테란과의 대결에서 선봉이 이영호vs송병구다. 만약, 병구 형이 진다면 이영호 선수가 나를 지명해줬으면 좋겠다. 재미있게 즐기고 싶다.
▶ '총사령관' 송병구
운이 좋아서 3킬을 할 수 있었던 것 같다. 앞에서 도재욱, 허영무 선수가 토스에게 불리한 맵에서 경기를 해줬다. 그래서 전체적으로 프로토스가 할 만한 맵들에서 경기를 했다. 그래도 올킬을 하지 못한 것은 아쉽다. (마)재윤이 형이 마지막 택용이와의 경기에서도 그렇고, 커세어-리버 견제 방어가 훌륭하더라. 드롭에 너무 많이 휘둘렸고, 옵저버 생산에 차질이 생겨서 경기를 그르친 것 같아 아쉽다.
다음 테란과의 경기에서는 이영호 선수와 선봉 대결을 하는데, 오랜만에 맞붙는 것 같다. 최근 이영호 선수와 연습을 많이하는 편인데, 지는 경우가 더 많다. 그리고 요즘에는 저그전이 더 쉬운 것 같다(웃음). 맵이 중요할 것 같다. 다양한 플레이를 준비할 생각이다.
▶ '올마이티' 허영무
내가 박찬수 선수에게 복수를 했어야 했는데 아쉽다. 오늘 다른 저그는 눈에 보이지 않고, 박찬수 선수만 보였는데 박성준 선수에게 잡혀서 아쉽다. 하지만 오늘 4명의 프로토스가 모여서 경기를 했기 때문에 매우 재미있었다. 전략 공유도 조금했다. 오늘 사용한 전략은 김택용 선수가 알려준 것인데, 결과적으로는 졌다(웃음).
테란과의 경기에서는 모든 선수와 붙고 싶지만, 특히 이영호 선수와 붙고 싶은 마음이다. 하지만 우리 팀 (송)병구 형을 응원하겠다. 얼마전 결승전에서 패배했는데 팬들께서는 걱정을 많이 안하셔도 된다. 그날 바로 병구 형을 비롯한 팀원들과 술을 먹고 풀었다. 역시 우울할 때는 술로 푸는 것이 좋은 것 같다(웃음).
