I was wondering about how many people here actually had read good books and if they did which one was their favorite. Here are some of the best books i had ever read in my life.
"Angels and Demons" its an incredible book, Dan brown its a genius at writing and he really knows what his talking about, very smart and always keep the thriller/mystery factor throughout the whole book.
edit: this book its awesome also ;]

Ender's Game Lord of the Rings Hitchhiker's Guide
there's been like at least a dozen threads on this already

I think most people here will say the song of ice and fire series by George RR Martin.
I am one of them. The series is depicted in his own world and currently has 4 books out for it. Each is filled with intense plot, mystery, battles, politics, etc....
Although a brief summary, the series is amazingly well written and has such a huge cast of characters perspectives he writes from that you will always be wanting more.

I loved Angels and Demons. I like any compilation of HP Lovecraft, his stories are amazing. I mean I like a lot of the books that are popular like enders game, the paradiso etc. I also like a lot of michael crichton books and the dragonlance series.

Atlas Shrugged and Upton Sinclair's The Jungle are amusing to read back-to-back. They both do that jumping-back-and-forth thing between a personal story and an industrial big picture.
Another good sequence is 1984, Brave New World, then Make Us Happy (Arthur Herzog - rather obscure compared to the other two). There's a hilarious progression between them.
But for my favorite pick: Jack Vance's Tales of the Dying Earth is great. Not originally written as one book, but the only in-print way to get some of his best work. He is really the master of petty deception and foolishness. The world feels incredibly rich and solid.
