The playoffs look like this:
Game 1 (quarter finals): 3rd vs 4th
Game 2 (semi finals): Winner of 3rd-4th vs 2nd
Game 3 (finals): Winner of game 3 vs 1st.
Now... the problem is, the playoff picture this season is completely unpredictable.
Here are the current standings (wins-losses, set points)
T1. CJ ENTUS 6-3, +7
T1. SKT T1 6-3, +7
3. KTF Magic Ns 6-3, +6
T4. MBC Game HERO 6-3, +4
T4. Pantech EX 6-3, +4
6. OGN Sparkies (old KOR) 5-4, +9
7. Hanbit Stars 4-5, -2
8. Samsung Khan 4-6, -6
9. Lecaf OZ 3-6 -4
10. eNature Top 2-7, -13
10. STX Soul 2-7, -13
Any of the top 1-6 can make the playoffs, and any of them can fall out from the playoffs as well. Even the teams at number 1 right now can crash out of the top four when it's all said and done. It all comes down to the last week of the regular season. So nobody is secure, and we don't know what team could make it direct to the finals.
Here is the schedule for next week's proleague:
July 8th
eNature - STX Soul (the only meaningless game... well actually not really, this is the game between the two worst records; loser is the dead last team this season)
MBC Game - Lecaf
July 9th
CJ - OGN (KOR)
Hanbit - KTF
July 10th
Pantech - SKT
I'll give you guys the shortened version first:
1. Whoever gets 7 wins makes the playoffs
2. The winner of CJ - OGN makes the playoffs (OGN's set score is so good that they will make playoffs for sure even with 6-4 record)
3. The winner of Pantech - SKT makes the playoffs
BUT, depending on all the combinations of results from next week's games, there are a billion different ways the 1-4 standings can happen. It is very likely that the standings will come down to set score between teams with the same records.
Basically, for the top six teams, if they win next week they make the playoffs, but if they lose they run the risk of not making the top four altogether. (the only exception is OGN team: if they lose they are out for sure)
On top of that, all of the top six teams will want to win 3-0 so that they can have a good set score.
