Hello fellow members,
Time and time again I have been unable to break out of Platinum with my play. I've played every season in Platinum. I rarely beat Diamond players, but also rarely (if ever) get matched against or lose to Gold players. I'm constantly Top 8-16 in my Division and I'm interested in any major flaws someone could point out to me in my gameplay. My biggest problem matchup is Zerg. It seems like no matter WHAT I do, Zerg always has a response whereas I do not. They are a complete hit or miss. I either crush my opponent or I get absolutely crushed. There's no inbetween it seems. Even if I manage to stay somewhat even with my opponent, I lose to mid-late game tech switches.

Thank you for your consideration and help!

I've watched the second replay, and I fail to understand what went wrong until you suddenly forgot how to macro. It's like the most standard outmacro ever. You and the Z have the same amount of income since he refuses to make any drones past two bases saturation. But he keeps his money between 400 and 700 and you go up to 3k.
Also, you can't expect the Z to wait for you to come at him. It's not bronze league where you wait for 200/200 to moveout.
You put on some early pressure, and you scout a third with 0 drones. Just make sure to get some units/static defense out in time... It's obvious that the Z is going to push since he showed you 15+ roaches and 0 drones at the third.

If you are playing on the EU server, add me for some games and practice : Ahelvin#995.
I recently broke out of platinum, and I am know a low-diamond zerg. I'd be glad to give you some pointers and practice some specific strategies against you .

Im a current toss who used to zerg. While I was learning to macro as toss and use storms properly, i just went all in against zerg to hit before muta timings. Fuck i hate mutas!
Watched the second replay and these are my suggestions.
1. Around 4 mins you have a probe doing nothing, always get em mining –use a hotkey to check for idle probes 2. You miss building probes a lot, you want CONSTANT probe production, only stop if your going to die in the next minute or so –you could have had even more probes by using the chrono boosts on your two nexus 3. If you build a robo- constantly produce units from it, you want to start a new one just as the last one is finishing 4. Gateways- 2 nexus fully saturated means you want 6 gateways, plus robo and upgrades to keep money down. On 1 nexus you need 3. 5. 13 minute into game and you don’t have full saturation on either base- fine to stay at 16 for awhile, but unless your doing an all in you want to get up to 24 ASAP. 6. 13 minutes is also way too late to be expanding , you have enough money to build one at expo and hide another 1 somewhere if you want. 7. If your amassing resources get rid of em,- double the gateway count if you need to , build cannons at expos etc. 8. Neither one of you uses a build past the very start of the game, - find a pvz build on the net and perfect it before doing any other ones (if possible in the game) 9. Also, you want to build sentries at start of the game so they can build energy. Once they have lots of energy you can press c then x and use hte phoenix to scout what the other guy up too.
What I did to learn toss was open gateway expand, one zealot and one stalker while expanding at natural and walling off- gave me practice microing the zealot and stalker while building stuff at home. The goal was to kill a few zerglings, make sure all buildings were done exactly on time, no supply block, missed drones, chonos etc, then retreating safely home,
The most important thing I think is, when you loose, if you have more than say 500 resources ignore everything else you think may have gone wrong in the game and fix this instead.
Hope some of this helps!

It's not the resources you did not spend, it's the resources you did not have.

Taking a fourth 3-5 minutes earlier can give you like 3k more at X point in time.
Same as having 10 workers more on bases with less than 16-20 workers for 10 minutes - boom. +4k moneys

true but you need to convert moneys into an army before you can defend an expo.
