Freeze Factor v0.1 [HOTS] released on servers: none
Hello there, here is my first serious attempt at creating a melee map. I have spent time just playing around in the editor before though.
As the map took shape a lot of unexpected problems came out of nowhere such as the rush distance and general proportions, you can siege the main ramp from the low ground, etc. what i want to know is whether you think the map is workable (please tell me what yo think needs fixing) or if I should just call it a succesful failure and make a new map instead.
General feedback is welcome no matter what I end up doing with the map.
btw, don't refrain from saying no if that's what you think. I'd rather know your honest opinion than your nice opinion.

There's a work in progress sticky that you should have posted in, but /shrug.
Honestly any map is workable. You already have the basic layout done, now go about adding more high ground options, or ramps, or just pathing around the map. Fix up some of the stuff you don't like (apparently the rush distances and being able to siege the main ramp), add some doodads and better textures, then post.
I could go into every single thing I dislike about it but it's all opinions anyway. I will say though that the middle could definitely use some work. The double wide ramp with the single wide on the opposite side really negates army movement through the middle. I'd just put it on low ground with some high ground drop-able pods around it, maybe some LosB and call it a day. Also some of the bases do seem pretty cluttered together imo.
I'm not sure if there are or aren't supposed to be doodads, but if there are, you must add more. These kinds of maps need themes. Maps go unnoticed if they don't stand out, no matter how good the layout is. Add doodads, give it a theme, and add terrain textures. As for the layout: it looks pretty good. I definitely agree with SidianTheBard that the middle could use some work. Good luck, have fun.

well I haven't placed at single doodad, and don't intend to unless I'm going to keep working on the map, and the more I think about it the more problems seems to arise with this map, so i'll probably end up just starting a new map instead.
