I thought as my very last post on TL it would be a great idea yo generate the shit-storm topic: Is Brood War Thriving?
This idea was sparked into my head when I read the interview 2Pac did with LRM)nOoNe (happy now? I finally styalized it correctly! :p)
Regardless of what outsiders may think, the current BW scene is thriving. As long as there is money to be won, people will continue to practice and produce excellent games. With that being said, once the money runs dry, we will likely see more people migrate to sc2 or LoL.
Regarding future seasons of Gambit’s Cup, it relies heavily on Eywa. With Eywa virtually gone from the scene, it will be difficult to find funding.

As an outsider or a insider (which honestly I believe to be a stupid term) you may think the Brood War scene is going good. As tournaments go, the addition of money leagues IE TLS and Gambit and the new C Rank TL no one can complain there is a lack of money leagues going around. The brood war community or for simplistic purposes Teamliquid ha dropped the ball dramatically.
I am going to say that Teamliquid as the community as a whole feels very elitist. It is even evident in peoples word choice. I have no issue with nOoNe as he has assistsed me multiple times but he used the word "outsider" to talk about the "other" people. They are different from him because be plays brood war and they will not understand. Its actually scary when you think about it.
I've been part of this community a little over 14 months. You may believe I don't know understand goes on due to my age. I know how this community operates. To a avid follower of modern day Brood War you know why this community still linger even after the Pro scene is dead forever. You don't do it because your here to watch the highest level of play your gear because your passion and love for the game. In other words the community that continues to play and make content for Brood War. As your devotion to this game is so great you are too stubborn to move to other titles. This is where I believe the elistst perspectives comes out.
Teamliquid you choose to accept or deny people entry way into your Brood War scene and "culture". I'll use PsyonicReaver as an example. If you have not read his gaming history blog I encourage all f you to read that. His experience with Brood War I'd say would nothing less than dramatic. Follows his dreams to open a practice house to only lose all his life savings to support two good for nothings. Shunned by TeamLiquid when he first arrived because he wasn't a good enough caster. The list continues. He persisted and he still plays the game he loves despite his history and the horrible reaction of TL. He is currently playing in Season 4 of D Ranks Team League and his a frequent TL'er. Unfortantely I think part of the reason he no longer casts anymore is from all the hate he received from TL when he came back from his project: SC2GG.
Now ge received that type of hyper critism back when TL was all top quality posters. Meaning you needed to be like a scholar to open a thread to even have a chance without getting closed. You would think that type of reaction would be different now. Wrong.
Out of respect of my "friend" or acquaintance I will not use their name. Just so they are not pulled into this shit-storm. With the little respect I have for TL left I ask you to do the same. This person very much like me tried their best to make the best content they could provide. Even when no one else was up to the plate to this. S/he got crtisied beyond belief. They didn't think much of it as they could just try harder. Eventually this person gave up because s/he felt they could not improve. As well as they felt like a "bench-warmer" for Sayle.
Nice work TL you now have managed to rid yourselves of two very hard working casters. Whats more, one of these casters was treated like the warm-up to another caster. I can understand liking one caster over another but its such a subjective topic you really can't argue which caster is better. You can define one as a shout-caster and another as an analyitc. But the scum who sit there and insult these casters is pitful. Don't watch them if they suck. Or better yet, instead of saying "We don't need this poor caster part of our community" help them out. I can't name more than 4 "active" casters right now. Why reduce that number even further? What happens when Sayle grows up and has less free-time? Is all lost?
Ah, Sayle. TeamLiquid admin, caster and whatever else you are. I would have not added this paragraph if you would sinply reply to my PM. I don't need to get all in your case. I just want to let you know you were a iCCup TV Admin just like me at one point. You werea scrub caster at one point and look where you are now. So ask yourself, would it have helped you to be insulted by the top tier caster at the time you were becoming a caster? Does it help to give sarcastic shit to a fellow caster? How would you feel if tasteosis starting doing this you? Right, just think before you troll next time.
Eywa a Brood War zealot. Dreaming big and unfortantely like many fall way below our dream goal lines. Eywa maybe stubborn beyond the point of ridculous he did a lot for Brood War. A rare case indeed when you have two ultra stubbon sides battle it out. What was the turn out? Teamliquid once again made yet another hard working user crawl back under their rock. Just because we didn't like him.
Those are all the people who I know of before me who fell. I'm surely not to be to this elitest community unless shit is changed. So let me share my story so far.
I came this site looking for more info regarding the mod SC2BW. I found the BW section and started to active these forums. I became a caster for iCCup and this is when I realized being a iCCup admin had its drawbacks. People on TL don't like you. If I addresses myself as iCCup.Fitz is would be a completely different conversation.
My ex-co-caster BMW joined iCCup so he could relive his past experieces of Brood War. Truly one amazing co-caster. Then I find out that he quits partly because if personal reasons but also because people were harassing him. Not about himself but "the other" dude he cadts with. People thought I was lame and retarded because I had a lisp. They harassed my co-caster to the point he quit. I've had the chance to speak woth him ever agian. Thanks guys.
Every now and again the lisp harassment or the reason I had a lisp I could never become a great caster. For a while it bothered me a little. So put all efforts to "revolutionize" the layout of Brood War VODs. Proberly one of two times I've met a actually decent person on the TL staff, R1CH. Upon my request he released an overlay tool which is one of the tools I use for casting. When I finally dis my best work I made a thread about peoples thoughts. Much of the information was not helpful. "Just keep it the same" and "Brood war is perfect no need to change it". Again this elitist perspective, brood war never has to change despite my efforts to further improve it. Who is gonna complain about a widescreen brood war? Well thats TL for you...
More recently my blog posts about Brood War. They started off okay some feeback. Then it became this "Pucca Vs. The World" as Sayle had called it. People bashed on me so hard it was upsurd. This didn't help my self-confidence for sure. The biggest blow to me I think was people I thought were nice were just harsh and blunt.
I looked up Kiante and Sayle. Kiante was always so funny with SirJoltnin Gen League casts. We also got super along during the Blitz epsiodes earlier last years. Then he rupeturs my heart by saying I essentially no nothing about this game. Go on and try again despite a years effort. As well as Sayle, how could I not look up to him just like how I ideallize tasteoisis. Well maybe not to the same exstent but often I would compate myself to Sayle. I don't make habit to dislike people in till I have a personal ba experience with that person. Intended or not Sayle was passive aggressive toward me just like how many posts by Ninazerg are so sarcastic. It hurt I won't lie. It was more confusion then anything TBH. And Chef man. How could the guy that wrote the origional stove guide show hate toward me? He pretty much told me in my old Good-Bye TL post that I was a Cry Baby. Thanks dude.
Ever since that point in time I have been doll almost of this community. "Oh hes too young he will understand when he is older" either to defend me (Thanks GeckO) or to harass me.
The examples are endless of how eliteist this site is at least this brood war community is. Further discussion would be I don't know heres a few. This community fucked up our relations with the Chinese so badly they don't wana play with us anymore because "they didn't fit our needs" Yes I've talked to them. The SC2BW thread how it was gonna take over the BW community where we first say Elegant showing his elitist side. Also before my time Joekim and Scan bans. Two amazing players kicked from TL forever. And any other epsiodes I just either can't recall or just don't know.
People in DOTA 2 section your alright. People in SC2 and General section your alright. People in Brood War section get your act together.
TL I seriously consider you to moderate your admins more. Brood War community learn to help newcomers instead of bashing them.
TO MODERATOR: I can understand you might close this thread due to high volitity but keep in mind I feel that your Mods were unkind. As well as in my eyes were harassing me to some degree. If your gonna let your mods speak their minds at least have them TRY to be nice. Also when I write a PM to Plexy, R1CH, Harem and another admin that I feel I am getting harassed and All you do is say "make a new account" is not very satisfactory at all. As well as if you create another account on the same IP is just gets locked the following day. Bring this to your adminstration. As this really does need to be addressed.
Also Requesting Perma-Ban, IP Ban whatever the biggest ban possble you can give me.
