A few weeks ago, Beta Patch 2.0.3 brought the Watch with Others, Take Command, and Recover Game replay features to the Heart of the Swarm Beta. It's our goal to test these new replay features on a large scale so that as many issues as possible can be discovered and eliminated prior to launching the game. In order to accomplish this task, we kindly request that you take some time to sink your teeth into each replay feature and report any bugs you might encounter. To aid you in beginning this quest, professional StarCraft II players Danny ' ViBE' Scherlong, Ben ' DeMusliM' Baker, and Manuel ' Grubby' Schenkhuizen were kind enough to donate replays that you can use to test the Watch with Others and Take Command features. Find out how you'd fare with a pro's units at your fingertips by downloading each of the replays below: EGDeMusliM.RC vs MVPDongRaeGu, Terran vs. ZergROOTViBE vs Snitchables, Zerg vs. ZergEmpireBeastyqt vs Grubby, Terran vs. ProtossPlease keep in mind that you will need to use your own replays in order to test Recover Game, as this feature requires the original players to be present in the Replay Lobby before the game will start. Additionally, if you'd like a quick refresher on how each of the new replay features work, you can find more detailed information here. If you encounter any issues while using the new replay features, head over to the Beta Bug Report Forum to fill us in on your experience. When reporting a bug, please be as thorough as possible while recounting what happened, and mindful of the Beta Bug Report Forum's Posting Guidelines. Thank you once again for all of your efforts and feedback while testing the StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm Beta. See you on Battle.net!

Why does it need a feat of strength? This is just trying to get people to test out the replay feature.

There should be achievement "bugmaster" given by developers for finding bugs.

Well, they promised a feat of strength in order to promote the leveling testing, and as a sad achievement whore I would love more oppurtunities.
Oh well, gotta find some friends to test them replays then!

One think that would be really nice would be to have the opportunity to remap the control groups/camera locations before starting the game... What about a 10s delay?

A 10-second countdown timer once you "take command" to fix hotkeys would be perfect.
There should also be a way to go directly to the end of a replay to take command so you dont have to fast forward though the entire game, possibly giving away hidden expos or tech paths, etc
|
This would be hard to achieve as replays are just a sequence of commands that will then be re-enacted by the SC2 engine when replaying a game. I guess they could blank the screen while fast forwarding to the end of the replay. Maybe you should post on the Beta Forum and give them feedback in that regard and also regarding your idea of a 10-second countdown to adjust the hotkeys.

Wow the original players must be in lobby for resume game to work... This KILLS all the assumptions how players could "enter the programe" and take over from pro's.
|
I think Take Command is the way to take over another players replay, I'm assuming Recover Game is merely a different way of doing it aimed at the original players only, one which also updates the match history etc.

That's correct.

lolz of course not. You just load the replay then press the TakerOver button, then select you as player 1 and your buddy as player 2. At least it was that way last time i tried. edit grammar

With the Take Over feature you don't need the original players. With the Recover Game feature you do.

Maybe it wasn't smart from Blizzard to make these separate features? Although, the most important thing is that with Recover game, you don't have to watch through the replay, thus nothing will get spoiled.
