A free agent since November of 2012 after his departure from vVv Gaming, Gemler had begun to surge in the North American scene towards the middle and into the end of 2012. He qualified for the WCG U.S. National Finals and achieved a winners bracket round five seed for the MLG Fall Championship after an impressive performance in the online qualifier. Gemler participated in the IPL 5 North American Satellite Qualifiers, taking first place and scoring wins over Weaklink, HwangSin, CatZ and dice in the process, granting himself a spot in Las Vegas.
