Every team has a player that just loves a single map. But just because he loves the map doesn’t mean he’ll automatically get sent out. Not only does he need a good win rate, he might get too predictably associated with the map when lineups are drawn, so from the coaches’ point of view it’s not a good idea to keep sending out the same player on the same map.
But Samsung Khan’s Brave blew all that aside, coming out a remarkable 6 times on Chain Reaction. Moreover, by winning 5 of those times, he’s shown a strong presence on the map Chain Reaction.
Q: The reason why you like Chain Reaction in particular Brave: It’s a map that fits me really well. First of all, not a lot of terrans come out on it. Not that I’m afraid of terrans, but somehow in my games I kept getting ruined by vultures and lost some confidence (laughs). Also this map greatly favors the player who wins the first huge decisive battle, and since I’m naturally good in those situations I guess I keep getting sent out. [t/n is that the reason for the map name? o_0]
Q: It’s already your 6th appearance on Chain Reaction. Brave: Since our team has so many good players, it’s hard to get sent out without specializing in one map. If I practice many different maps, since my seniors [stork, jangbi, etc] are so much better all around, it’s tough to get match opportunities. In the end, I think Chain Reaction is the map for me.
Q: sHy marred your flawless Chain Reaction record Brave: I had a brain fart (laughs). To be honest, since ZerO and Neo.G_Soulkey came out in sets 1 and 2 I thought we’d be able to clean up the other players. It was a hard loss. When we went back to the team house that night I could barely touch my mouse.
Q: That’s why it didn’t seem like you’d come out on Chain Reaction this time Brave: Well, because the last match was decided by build order the coaching staff didn’t read too much into it. Still, I worried a bit that I’d lose my concentration.
Q: Your match today was perfect Brave: The dark templar I jumped saw that hydra speed was done, and my corsairs discovered the overlord drop ahead of time, so I think fortune smiled on me twice. Again, I feel like Chain Reaction really is my map (laughs).
Q: Are you going to keep coming out on Chain Reaction Brave: Now that it’s “Neo Chain Reaction,” the map’s matchups are all changing. It’s too bad, because I want to continue my dominance. I liked the old map Bloody Ridge, too, but before long that changed to Neo Bloody Ridge. It feels like they’re changing my favorite map too soon.
Q: You were ahead 2-0, then got caught up 2-2. Not an ideal situation Brave: To be honest, I was really worried. I thought we’d finish 3-0 but I panicked it got to 2-2. I don’t usually have very many reasons to be thankful for Kihyun [Reality] but today I really am thankful from the bottom of my heart (laughs).
Q: Any last words Brave: I want us to win the next KT match and have a ticket straight to the grand finals. I’ll try my hardest for even better results.
Interesting idea. Samsung is so protoss heavy, and stork and jangbi cast such a big shadow that the younger toss need to specialize in something to see play. However, if they become too specialized, they will be predictable. Somehow it is working out for them this season.
Breibu is 21-13 (61.76%) vs Z and 5-2 this season (6 games on Chain Reaction). If CR is actually bad for Terran, It'd be hard for him to be sniped on that map.
thanks a lot. translators, live reporters and thread creators have been so imba this season, feels like everyone is at same pace in bw, even tho we change for diferent teams we all want the same. long live bw!
