As anyone knows who has gone to an MLG event the event is disproportionately populated by males. While I attended MLG Columbus last year I drug my girlfriend along. Being a good sport she agreed. From my general observation at the event the only females there were in the same situation as me. Simply coming along as a good gesture to their boyfriends.
The issue is since I paid full price for her pass I felt like she needed to be there with me simply to get my money's worth. It would be nice if there was an option to purchase a ladies pass at a discounted rate. Not only for a 1+1 situation but maybe make the idea of coming to an MLG as a lady, not attached to a male, more appealing due to the lower price of entrance. I'm sure she'd also love having a wrist strap in a shade of pink instead of the MLG red as well. The precedent is set already at bars which have a ladies night to try and even the numbers.
I feel like if I could purchase a pass for my girlfriend at a discounted rate it would be easier for me, on a personal level, to have her just come and go as she pleases from the event. She was very lethargic and, honestly, bored during the second day of the event.
Anyways just a suggestion. Thanks for reading.

Not sure if troll thread, if not, no.
One of the biggest demands for Females actually involved in the e-sports community is to be treated the same as males, this would just stick a big middle finger up to that concept.

Let's reverse the situation: If I go to an MLG event because my girlfriend want sto go there, am I allowed to pay lower prices aswell?
In other words: Stupid idea, same rights, same prizes...
|
MLG wouldn't allow a discount for such a thing as that.
|
How about Ladies free before 11:00pm? Oh wait, forgot MLG isn't a club...
|
Having a girlfriend and being a nerd is a bitch ain't it lol. That kinda shit doesn't happen for sports games etc, so Idk if that would ever happen

Support, more females to MLG is always good. Discounted pass is definitely a good idea, if not even just letting them enter for free.
|
Yeah, I think this is a bad idea. If they really don't enjoy it then simply don't bring them along, it's silly to have a discounted rate just because they don't like it as much as someone such as yourself.

The idea is right, the method is wrong. Yes MLG might need some more females, but lowering the prices isnt the correct answer.

Good idea, I would support this. Though it would cause to much controversy to actually be applied

I'm not going to stand obstinate to my idea but I'd appreciate to hear yours

Why is this in any way, shape or form necessary. Girls don't get a discount at any sports matches... and most of the time they just don't go (in my experience). If it doesn't interest them, it doesn't interest them... and making the entrance fee cheaper isn't going to get your girlfriend interested in Starcraft all of a sudden.

You drugged your girlfriend to go to MLG Columbus with you? :D

Passes are for people enjoying the event or being genuinely curious enough to give it a try. Lowering prices won't spark people's interest if they aren't into gaming in the first place, regardless of gender.

Can you explain to me why MLG "needs" more females? fair enough it would be great if more people generally came to MLG (Male or Female) but I don't understand why it specifically needs to be females. These thought processes people have are actually frustrating. Yes ok, E-sports is male dominant but that doesn't mean we HAVE to unfairly give females advantages to get them involved in the industry, if they like e-sports that much then they will go out of their own way and spend their time on it, if they don't, they don't.

I want to bring my pet alligator to MLG, but it will be hard to drag him to the event. Can MLG give me a discounted alligator pass so that it isn't such a hassle to bring him? MLG really needs more pets at their events and this could be a good way to get more of them.

Is that kind of thing legal in the US? Would be gender discrimination in Sweden.

I'd assume so. Most bars on a designated day of the week waive cover and offer discounted drinks for females.

Male Population: 51% Female Population: 49%
...ähmmm JUST NO?!
MLG |= Party-Club.

Ok, such things are illegal here.
