Don't be ridiculous, alligators are a hazard to everyone there, and could likely eat some of the cables that power the event.

While I do think that the discounted rate thing is a tad silly, I do think that MLG should try and cater more to gamer's friends and family at the event. There should be more extra-starcrafticular events and offerings, similar to what the Stride booth does now. There's no reason that friends and family shouldn't enjoy themselves too, and I think that that is the deeper issue you're trying to get at.

They should set a price per-seat. That way you can bring anyone else free; as long as they sit on your lap.

Don't be discriminating alligators, I would totally welcome an alligator to sit beside me during the event.

This is just blatant sexism, i'm completely lost and kind of appalled by this. MLG is not a party club. Why do people want to get women interested in esports by just throwing money at them anyways?

Fair point. If they added more activities outside of just standing around watching Starcraft that would work as well. However I assumed simply discounting the price would be easier than adding a bunch of non-eSports stuff.

...No its not, he said what issue he was trying to get at. Get more chicks to the event by making it cheaper, cause Starcraft is boring to them.

Dude, girls are a hazard to MLG as well. Do you think nerds will be able to concentrate as well with more females around them?
On topic, its an intersting idea, but you could easily just make it a 1+1 thing, as opposed to straight up giving girls a discount. Just say that buying a ticket gives you a discount for a second ticket, whoever it is for.
Still get the discount, none of the discrimination

Starcraft is about whining about imbalance and orgasming at players harassing each other digitally, not girls. Go to a club for that. MLG really doesn't need 'more girls'. But it does need 'more attendees' and 'more publicity'.

I thought of that as well but rarely do you see people there by themselves. Most people would just buy a 1+1 pass for him and his buddy. So it wouldn't really solve the problem I was trying to address.

Nah when your in your game, you are really focused on your game at these events, there is so much background noise etc that you have to drown out I doubt I would notice if someone got into a fight right behind me. I think that this is a bad idea, and that females should be treated the same. If they wanted to come they would pay the price of entry, I've played vs all female halo teams at these events before that got sponsored cause they were female, yet we beat them and moved on, however we payed our own way. So being male is not always advantageous at these events money wise unless your the best and have sponsors.

If you mean single girls, then wtf, why would you care about single girls going? They don't go because they're not interested. They wouldn't go if it was free if they weren't interested.

However, I haven't really seen a 2011 MLG event struggle with low numbers of visitors. Would be really bad business to lower prices to sold out events.
= Will never happen, boy or girl.

No, bad idea. If a girl is really genuinely interested she will pay up anyway.

Fact: EVERYTHING gets better the more attractive girls are around. This is common knowledge, and not very surprising either. I'm totally for this babes pass idea

What about having more of a motivation for the better half to also be there? Like the play-rooms at stores where the children can play.. A pedicure/manicure play-room where they can wash of the nerdiness for a while..
Joke of course.
I don't see this discount thing happening. Difficult to implement. Perhaps something like a "family pass" could be feasible but it would be difficult with girlfriend/boyfriends that are not married as it would be easily abused.

They're not struggling like as if they're going out of business, but more business makes anyone smile (indifferent to the consumer). I would like all 7 billion of us in there.
