Colossus idea for Hots

I had this colossus idea from a long time ago, but i´m to lazy to write, and english is not my language, so i will be very direct.

I think colossus is a boring unit and it gives a lot of problems.
You get colossus, he get corruptors. No corruptors, you rolfstomp him.
My first idea was bringing the reaver back. But aint gonna happen.
Colossus is a cool unit, and reaver is similar to the tank, and blizzard is triying to do SC2 races more difrent than SC1 races.

Idea
So i had this idea and i think it will be really nice cause is such a simple idea.
Colossus is changed in a way that it walks the exact same way than now. but in order to shoot you have to change it to siege mode. in a way that it goes down to the ground and can´t move. then if you want to move it again it displays his big legs and can be again targetable by vickings etc.

Probably it will need thermal lance from default and other adjustments.

Pros.

-Now think about it. The boring death ball a-move is gonne, with this simple change.
-Cool colossus is still in the game and diffrent from siege tank and other units.
-interesting gameplay. Now terran can get vikings to cach colossus out of possition or wile retreating but wont be strictly necesary.
Now siege tanks are needed cause it out-ranges colossus. Still protoss has a lot of units to deal with siege tanks.
-Carrier is saved, maybe with a production time reduced, you can tech swich to kill those thanks with carriers.
-Its a simple idea

Cons
-Its a big change it will destroy balance
Thats why i think Hots beta is a great oportunity to test it.
- Its a big nerf to colossus.
Well i don´t think its a nerf, you are losing mobility with your colossus, but now they wont be countered as easily cause you can save them from the vikings.


PD: i have a lot of ideas for Hots but i dont want to post them here cause im not as sure as this one, and don´t want people to focus on ideas that maybe bad and not thinking in this one.

I don't like the idea of making the Colossus a glorified Tank. Also, this is probably more of a buff than a nerf XD.

So basically if you're out on the map and you meet a bioball or a zerg swarm, you've lost.

floating barracks and factories should be able to knock over colossus, which are then immobile and can only shoot at flying units.

Bad idea, because collusus are already easy to kill off in most cases.

Protoss struggle with the lack of aggression while macroing and with this change would make it even worse.
Also image how passive PvT with tanks vs (colossi-)tanks would be - or the PvP colossi-wars.

What if the colossus could not only walk up and down cliffs, but could also walk from a cliff up into the air? Then they could only attack air units, and ground attack units couldn't hit them. Did I just balance the game?

The pure thought of it appeals to me, but I feel like a protoss army that suffers from lack of mobility would suffer even more with a siege type of unit :/

I think it will be quite diffrent from the thank anyways i think protoss lacks a siege unit.

You need to position well, if you are well positioned its harder to deal with this kind of colossus.

I think that the colossus wars we already have are veeeery veeeery boring.

Also TvP its a horrible match up in my opinion
