OGPlanet just started a North American SDGO server SD Gundam Online
SDGO
The game is played through multiplayer matches of up to 12 players, or co-op missions of up to 4 players. Multiplayer matches provide rewards of points (in-game currency) and experience, with bonuses for the winning team or players, and additional bonuses based on game length. Mission rewards are randomized, and may sometimes include additional items.
Mobile suits can be obtained via rental, random purchase through capsules (hence the title), and through mixing. Mixing requires the purchase of a Mixing Plan, a fully upgraded "key" mobile suit, and a number of specific component suits that get discarded during mixing.
The strength of a mobile suit is described by its rank. C ranks are the weakest and most common, having four lives in multiplayer games. B ranks have three lives, but are more difficult to obtain. A ranks are even stronger, but have only two lives. S rank units have 2 lives and are currently the strongest units in the game and can be bought with real currency or there mix plans can be bought with points. Some mobile suits have rare CR, BR, and AR variants, which can only be capsuled, and have different weapons or abilities. Additionally, there are CS, BS, AS and SS mobile suits, which are similar, but can only be acquired through mixing.
Mobile suits are further categorized into rock, paper, and scissor types, with a self-explanatory relationship. Rocks are traditionally oriented toward hand-to-hand combat, whereas papers are long-range, and scissors are multi-role.
There is a high degree of customization available in the game. The player can purchase paint sets and stickers to change the appearance of mobile suits, and tweak their stats slightly. Especially rare items, such as red paint, extra storage, operators, and room themes, however, are unattainable with in-game currency, and can only be purchased with real money.
SDGO is a godsend for Gundam franchise fans after the shutdown of the UCGO official servers.

It might be a bit dumb.. but how do you start the game? The launcher pops up but nothing happens and I'm stuck at the webpage with the installed icon.
edit: found it: orange arrow on the icon.... how are we supposed to know that =/

So how much can you play without paying? Is there an in-game currency which you can farm to buy the S-class stuff, or are you stuck with generic suits unless you fork over real cash? A lot of these games I've seen just devolve into who spends the most money.

You can get things faster by paying, but nothing better.

Already playing and doing well. Got Psycho Gundam and all the other A Gundams from those missions. Gonna do some more quests for points and then, yeah, sucks that it's years behind =/
If you see someone nicknamed "Ciel", that's me.

Is anyone killer32?
It would help me out if when you apply for the clan you put your ingame name in a post here.

Is this game worth downloading?
Is it single player, or multiplayer? Competitive?

Since the OP doesn't have a whole lot info regarding actual gameplay, I'll give a summary (from my brief few hours):
It's an Armored Core-type shooter/action game. It's fairly simplified, you can lock on your shots so aiming isn't terribly important (not my favorite feature as a FPS player). The Gundams look cool, you'll appreciate them if you're a Gundam fan. I'm not sure how deep the customization goes, but the weapons I got to play with were all pretty basic. You get new mechs by buying capsules either with real money or ingame points, and they give you a random mech, or you can buy blueprints to make the mech you want.
That's pretty much it, it's a very basic game. Missions are undertaken Grand Chase-style where you join a few other people in coop mode. The controls are a little clunky, but acceptable. I think the main reason I had fun with it is that I'm a huge Gundam fan, but as a game...it's pretty average.
|
Been playing it on/off today and have been having a good deal of fun. Definitely agree with the above poster; it's far from the best game out there but if you're a Gundam fan you should be able to appreciate it.
I'm so bad at the game currently. It's kinda funny, very easy missions without any problem at all. Easy missions result in you taking a bit of a beating but still a fairly easy completion... and normal missions... >_>
At least that's been my experience thus far with the average group.
In game name: Sonofek
